Drummer and Classical Percussionist
TRAINING
In 2012 he travels to New York and studies with renowned international Maestros, like John Riley and
Gregory Hutchinson.
In 2009 he's awarded the “Master dei Talenti Musicali” scholarship promoted by the CRT Foundation,
which he decides to invest in a three-month stay in New York, in order to deepen his knowledge of Jazz
music. On that occasion he has the opportunity to study with the Maestros John Riley, Ari Hoenig, Jim
Payne and Quincy Davis.
In July 2008 he gets his bachelor's degree in Percussions at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Turin,
Italy, under the teaching of Maestros Matteo Moretti and Riccardo Balbinutti. He also follows a course in
Jazz Drums held by Stefano Bagnoli at the same school until June 2010.
In 2006 he attends a Masterclass held by Massimiliano Damerini at the Conservatory of Turin, presenting
a sonata for two pianos and percussions by Bela Bartok.
From 2000 to 2005 he attends the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, Italy (Percussions class, taught by
Matteo Moretti e Riccardo Balbinutti) and the Experimental Music Secondary School (Quinquennio
Sperimentale) connected with the Conservatory.
In July 2005 he gets his Secondary School Diploma.
CONTESTS
In 2014 he becomes president of the “Ossi Duri Association”, and they win a contract with the
Compagnia San Paolo of Turin for a cultural project called “Scene allo Sbando” (“Scenes Adrift”). It’s a
joint-project with the musician and composer Marco Tardito, with the aim of performing the music from his
album “Eleven- Eleven Futuristic Solfeggios”.
In May 2014 the Fabio Giachino Trio (of which he is drummer) win the “Best Band” special prize at the
Bucarest International Jazz Competition.
In March 2014 the Fabio Giachino Trio is included in the Top Ten list of best Italian jazz bands by Jazz.it
Award Pool.
In August 2012 he is awarded first prize at the “Barga Jazz Contest” with the Fabio Giachino Trio.
In July 2012 he is awarded first prize at the “Fara Music Jazz Live 2012” with the Fabio Giachino Trio.
In 2011 he is awarded first prize at the “Live e Giovani Jazz” promoted by Porsche Italia with the Fabio
Giachino Trio.
In September 2010 he is selected as one of the three finalist at the “Drumworld Festival” International
Contest.
In November 2008 he receives the “Study Encouragement Award, Master dei Talenti Musicali”, offered by
the CRT Foundation to talented young musicians who have just taken their music degree. This entitles the
musicians to become part of the CRT “Master dei Talenti” Orchestra.
In January 2008 he is the winner of the solo audition announced by the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin,
where he performs “Concert for Vibraphone and Strings” by Emmanuel Sejourné.
In October 2007, with the percussion quartet “Groove Ensemble”, he is the finalist at the contest
organized by the “Società Umanitaria” of Milan.
In September 2007 he is awarded third place (first and second not given) in the Drums Competition
organized by the Percussive Art Society of Fermo (Ellade Bandini and Sergio Bellotti in the jury).
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES
In February 2015 Fabio Giachino Trio’s third Cd “Blazar” is released and co-produced by aBeat Records.
In December 2014 he performs with Antonio Faraò, one of the best pianist in European jazz scene, and
his quartet.

In November 2014 he records the album “TrioMonne” featuring the world famous Vietnamise guitarist
Nguyen Le.
In May 2014 the Fabio Giachino Trio goes to Helsinki to record the new Cd by the Russian singer Angelica
Matveeva.
In March 2014 he plays with Furio di Castri, Fabio Giachino and Jacopo Albini at the Izmir Jazz Fest in
Smirne, Turkey.
In January 2014 Fabio Giachino Trio’s new Cd “Jumble Up” is released, by aBeat Records. The
presentation tour will start in February 2014 and will include performances at the Jazzdocks Club in
Prague for the Petrof Piano Festival, besides dates in Turin, Milan, Rome, Genoa and Central and
Southern Italy.
On December 4th 2013, twenty years after the death of the great American composer Frank Zappa, the
band “Ossi Duri” (of which he is founder, drummer and composer) releases three Cds, under the
LaZariMus label: “Senza Perdere la Tenerezza”, “riCoverati” and “Frankamente” (feat. Elio, Freak Antoni,
Ike Willis and Fabio Giachino). The band goes on an Italian tour with Ike Willis, one of Frank Zappa's main
singers. A memorable concert was at the Milan Auditorium, a tribute to Zappa's music with Elio and Fabio
Treves, organized by Claudio Trotta's Barley Arts.
In December 2013 the record “Eleven” is released, produced by the composer and clarinet player Marco
Tardito.
In November 2013 he performs at the Colors Club in Turin, with the young talented sax player Mattia
Cigalini, in an ensemble put together by the guitarist Luigi Tessarollo.
In October 2013 he joins the project “Torino Jazz Guitar Quintet”, devised by Luigi Tessarollo, with
Alessandro Chiappetta, Pietro Ballestrero and Davide Liberti.
In April 2012 a new record by Andrea Manzoni is released: “ Quantum Discord”, produced by the Swiss
label “altriSuoni”.
Between March 2012 and the spring of 2013 he performs with Fabio Giachino Trio in over 80 concerts in
Italy and abroad, including the following festivals: Val Luretta Jazz Festival, Roccella Jazz Festival, Palmi
Jazz Festival, Torino Jazz Festival (in a quartet with Maurizio Giammarco first, then with Tineke Postma),
Fara Jazz Festival and Monferrato Jazz Festival, Jazz of Wine and Peace (Cormons), JazzUp Festival
(Viterbo).
In February 2012 Fabio Giachino’s Cd “Introducing Myself” is released (produced by Musicando) feat.
Rosario Giuliani.
In November 2011 he performs with the Orchestra “Master dei Talenti” conducted by the world famous
Riccardo Muti.
In May 2010 he founds the jazz trio “Jazz Who?” with the alto player Gianni Denitto and Furio Di Castri,
and performed at the Roccella Jazz Festival in 2013.
While in New York in 2009 he performs with several ensembles in New York State and Connecticut,
among which a concert at the "Museum of Jewish Heritage" in New York City, at the presence of N.Y. City
Mayor Bloomberg.
In July 2009 he takes part in a project promoted by Furio Di Castri called "Hermetico", a tribute to
Hermeto Pascoal.
In April 2009, at the “Folk Club” in Turin, there’s the presentation of the Ossi Duri’s latest Cd “Scadenza
Perfetta” – in which he’s both the drummer and composer.
In February and April 2009 he performs with the “Turin JazzLab”, conducted by Furio di Castri, with the
participation of the Argentinian Sax player Javier Girotto.
He’s been touring with the CRT Music Talents Master Orchestra since February 2009, performing in
theatres in Piedmont and Val d'Aosta.
In November 2008 he performs with the “Turin JazzLab” at the “Parco della Musica” in Rome, Italy – an
event organized by Furio Di Castri.
Since October 2008 he’s been the drummer of the resident band for the Jazzjams organized by Maison
Musique, in Rivoli, Turin.
In August 2007 and 2008 he performs in the early summer concert with the Bartolomei Bruni Orchestra;
these concerts were broadcasted on the Italian National Television.
In June 2008 he performs with the “Turin JazzLab” at the ATC Theatre in Torino, conducted by M° Bruno
Tommaso.

In March 2008 he plays at the Piccolo Regio Theatre for the protest show against the mafia by Valter
Malosti and Furio di Castri, in memory of Rita Atria (several reruns).
From September 2007 to February 2008 he collaborates with the contemporary music ensemble
“Divertimento Ensemble” (director Sandro Gorli).
In September 2007 he accompanies, on request of the “Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo” the
performances of artists taking part in the “Silenzio: una mostra da ascoltare” exhibition.
From 2007 to 2008, with the percussions band Groove Ensemble, he takes part in numerous
performances in Italy and abroad.
Since 2000 to the present day, he’s been touring nationally and internationally with the band “Ossi Duri”, at
times feat. Elio, Ike Willis and Napoleon Murphy Brock.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES
In March 2014 he holds a jazz workshop for the students at the Izmir Jazz Festival in Smirne (Turkey).
In October 2013, with the Fabio Giachino Trio, he holds a three day jazz workshop at the mountain house
“Willy Jervis” (Torre Pellice, TO).
He gives individual lessons in drums, percussions and ensemble music for Istituto L. Perosi di Biella
(connected to the Conservatory A. Vivaldi in Alessandria) since 2009 as well as Scuola ArteMusica in
Nichelino (TO) since 2014.
He teaches in introductory music courses in conjunction with the CRT Foundation Diderot Project, which
involves teaching over 50 hours a year in primary schools in the Piedmont region.
Since 2010, every year in September, he’s been part of the teaching staff for “La Settimana Strumentale”, a
six-day workshop for boys and girls aged 8 to 17, organized by the association “Cantascuola” of Turin.
