Services, systems and policies 9 What is a Learning Group? • The ‘learning group’ concept is very concrete and focused, in the sense that every participant develops and implements an own project in his/her centre. • The Learning Group is used for inspiration, guidance and feedback. • The facilitator acts as trainer for the theoretical parts and as consultant for the design of the individual projects and the ongoing for the support to the participants for the project implementation via e-mail and phone 10 Aims of the Learning Group • To assist participants in the practical application of the ICF in the service delivery processes of their organisations • To provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the role of ICF in working with people with disabilities 11 Target Groups • • • • • • Young people with muscular dystrophy, Children with hearing impairment, Acquired muscular skeletal injuries, Traumatic brain injury, People with severe learning disabilities Adults who are hard of hearing. 12 Learning Group Activities • To review existing research to identify whether or not a Core Set already exists for the chosen group • To analyse the case notes of a number of beneficiaries from the target group from an ICF perspective to identify the frequency with which certain elements of the ICF recur. • To produce a short report on the findings of these two studies. 13 Core Set Design 14 Dimensions of a Core Set • • • • • Clearly delineated target group Specified phase of intervention About 30 Elements or more Preferrably level 3 descriptors Must be enough items to cover all the information you need • Must be practical and useable 15 Core Set Methodology • • • • • • Case Study Analysis Document Analysis Delphi Survey Focus Group Consensus Builiding Prioritisation Pilot Test 16 Learning Group Activities • To review existing research to identify whether or not a Core Set already exists for the chosen group • To analyse the case notes of a number of beneficiaries from the target group from an ICF perspective to identify the frequency with which certain elements of the ICF recur. • To produce a short report on the findings of these two studies. 17 Core Set Design 18 Dimensions of a Core Set • • • • • Clearly delineated target group Specified phase of intervention About 30 Elements or more Preferrably level 3 descriptors Must be enough items to cover all the information you need • Must be practical and useable 19 Core Set Methodology • • • • • • Case Study Analysis Document Analysis Delphi Survey Focus Group Consensus Builiding Prioritisation Pilot Test 20
