Winston Chamberlain,
M.D., Ph.D received his
BS in biology from California Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD
in immunology and an
MD from the University
of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is board certified in ophthalmology, and a member of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology. His research
interests include the outcomes of corneal
transplant surgery with the femtosecond
laser and DSAEK techniques, and inflammatory responses in the cornea.
Jeff Healey, M.D. clinical interests include
comprehensive ophthalmology, adult eye
diseases including cataracts, diabetic eye
disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma,
and uveitis. Dr. Healey is a native of Logan,
UT and completed his undergraduate degree in biology from Utah State University in
2002. In 2007, he received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and
went on to complete his ophthalmology
residency in 2011 at the UPMC Eye Center,
University of Pittsburgh. During residency,
he was trained in the medical and surgical
care of a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions.
Ambar Faridi, M.D. completed medical school at OHSU and
residency at the Casey Eye Institute. During residency, Dr.
Faridi conducted research on retinal diseases, including the
use of Adaptive Optics in retinal imaging, for which she won
the Kenneth Swan Outstanding Resident Research
Award. She went on to pursue her interest in medical retina
by completing a fellowship at the Duke Eye Center. Dr. Faridi
is a medical retina specialist at the VA Portland Health Care System and is a certified reader at the Casey Eye Institute Reading Center, where she participates in
clinical trials on inherited retinal degenerations and diabetic retinopathy.
Seema Gupta, M.D. grew up in India where she completed
her medical degree, an Ophthalmology residency and a fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Loma Linda University and practiced
as an Internist for a few years. She subsequently completed a
uveitis fellowship at OHSU, Casey Eye Institute and an Ophthalmology residency at OHSU, Casey Eye Institute. During her
training at Casey Eye Institute, she was trained in the medical and surgical care of
a wide variety of ophthalmologic conditions.
Lorinna H. Lombardi, M.D. is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist at Casey Eye Institute. She specializes in cataract surgery,
comprehensive ophthalmology, general and urgent eye care,
seeing patients with cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, macular
degeneration, and other eye conditions. She is experienced in
complex cataract surgery and advanced intraocular lens surgery. Dr. Lombardi received her undergraduate degree from
the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated with highest honors. She received her M.D from Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo
Alto, California, where she was involved in an international research project on
Age Related Macular Degeneration.
Afshan A. Nanji, M.D., M.P.H. specializes
in Corneal and External Diseases, Ocular
Surface Oncology, Laser Vision Correction/LASIK, Cataract and Intraocular
Lenses. She has special interests in conjunctival and corneal tumors as well as in
international ophthalmology. Outside of
work, Dr. Nanji enjoys traveling, hiking, and reading.
Sheila Morrison, OD is the Medical Contact
Lens Fellow at the Oregon Health & Science
University, Portland, Oregon. This program is
focused on fitting challenging irregular cornea
and ocular surface disease patients with the
leading contact lens technologies. Dr. McDonald earned his Doctor of Optometry degree
from Pacific University College of Optometry,
Forest Grove, Oregon.

Mansi Parikh, M.D.
specializes in adult glaucoma, including complicated glaucoma and
cataract surgeries. She
grew up on the East
coast, and has slowly
moved westward, completing her residency and fellowship training
in the Midwest. Glaucoma, in particular,
piqued her interest because of the focus on
patient education that is essential to proper
care. In addition, she enjoys the long-term
relationships built with her patients.
Matthew Lampa, OD received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of
Optometry in Forest
Grove, OR. After graduation he completed as residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Pacific University College of Optometry. He is currently
an assistant professor at Pacific University
College of Optometry where he is involved
with specialty contact lens fitting, contact
lens instruction of optometry students, and
clinical research. He has also served as a
Consulting and Attending Optometrist at the
Portland VA Medical Center and is an associate in a private practice, Silver Falls Eyecare,
in Silverton, Oregon.
Charissa Young, OD specializes in dry eye management and
custom contact lenses as a fellow at Specialty Eyecare Group
in Kirkland, WA. She graduated with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry and received the AOF/Vistakon
Contact Lens Excellence Award and Lion's Club Community
Service Award. She is involved in active research in the area
of dry eye, particularly in the areas of meibomian gland dysfunction, tear osmolarity, and ocular surface inflammation.
Dr. Young also leads eyecare missions regularly to rural and
low-income areas in Thailand.
David Kading,
OD specializes
in treating front
of the eye problems like allergies, red eyes,
dry eye syndrome, Keratoconus, corneal
degenerations, and other diseases. Dr.
Kading has post-doctorate residency
training in the evaluation and fitting of
specialty contact lenses for high astigmatism, high prescriptions, multifocals, Corneal Reshaping Therapy
(Orthokeratology) for children and
adults, and solving visual problems
after eye disease or surgery. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of
Optometry.
Shane McDonald,
OD is the Medical

John Clements, MD is an assistant professor of Ophthalmology at the Casey Eye
Institute at OHSU in the division of Cornea and Refractive Surgery. He completed
his Ophthalmology residency training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago and his cornea fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at
Harvard. After completion of his medical training, he, his wife and 3 children
moved to Angola Africa to run an ophthalmology development project for 3
years. Now at Casey Eye Institute, his academic interests include cornea transplantation, infectious keratitis, laser vision correction, cataract surgery and international ophthalmology.

Michael
Cavanaugh is the
regional sales
manager at Carl
Zeiss Meditec. He
obtained his
Bachelors Degree
in Business / Marketing and Communications in 2002.
James Hale, OD is a native of Corvallis. After
graduating from Oregon
State University in 1994,
he went on to earn his
doctor of optometry
degree at Pacific University College of Optometry in 1998. Following
graduation, Dr. Hale completed an extra
year of residency training in advanced eye
disease at the Portland Veterans Affairs
Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Hale spent 2 years as clinical director of a large laser eye surgery center
and then went on to practice in a 25-doctor
medical eye care group in the Portland area
until 2005. Following the birth of their third
child, Dr. Hale and his wife Dee Dee decided
to return home to Corvallis where he joined
Valley Eye Care. Dr. Hale is a member of the
American Optometric Association, the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, Beta
Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, and the Rotary Club of Greater
Corvallis. Dr. Hale is President-Elect of the
Oregon Optometric Physicians Association
and served President from 2011-2012.
Alexandra Bavasi, OD is the current pediatric and vision therapy resident optometric physician at Pacific University College of Optometry. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific
University and is in the process of completing her Master of Education, Visual
Function in Learning degree. She is particularly interested in pediatric primary care and strabismus/
amblyopia management. She enjoys running, yoga, weightlifting,
knitting, and traveling.
Charrisa Young, OD is a fellow at Specialty Eyecare Group in
Seattle, WA specializing in dry eye management and custom
contact lenses. She graduated with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry and received the AOF/Vistakon

Doug Walker, OD received his doctorate from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1999, after having served
his externships at Carl Albert Indian Health Facility in Ada
Oklahoma, Portland Vision Centers and in Gold Beach, Oregon with Dr. John Rush. Dr. Walker has been very active
with various optometric associations and is a member of
the American Optometric Association, the Oregon, Washington & Montana Optometric Physicians Associations, and
the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Dr. Walker is
currently serving on the Oregon Board of Optometry after being appointed by
Oregon Governor, Kate Brown. He is the 1999 recipient of the Oregon Optometric Association Student of the Year and the 2005 recipient of the "Oregon Young
OD of the Year" in addition to numerous other awards and honors. Dr. Walker is
President of the South Western Oregon Optometric Society and served as the
2010-2011 President of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association. Dr. Walker
provides additional expertise to the Eye Centers of Gold Beach and Brookings in
the co-management of Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma.
