The team at Queens Cross Dental are dedicated to providing you with exceptional

At Queens Cross Dental we are able to provide comprehensive dental care for
patients of all ages. Due to our dentists’ many different interests and specialities,
we are able to tailor your dental treatment to meet your individual needs.
Our non-invasive facial aesthetics treatments are carried out in partnership with
Lynda Smith, a registered and experienced Advanced Aesthetic Practitioner.
Patient registration is not required for cosmetic dental treatment.

Andrew Scott (BDS, BMSc, DPDS) – GDC no 72096
Principal Dentist

Andrew graduated from the University of Dundee Dental
School in 1996 and has been placing dental implants since
1999. He has regularly attended many advanced dental
implant courses and conferences in UK and Europe to
extend his expertise and knowledge. Andrew jointly runs an
implant study group for the North East of Scotland and is
a registered mentor to assist dentists wishing to learn and
place dental implants. Andrew is happy to accept referrals
for all aspects of dental implant treatment and also has a
keen interest in cosmetic dentistry.

Julie Rafferty (BDS) – GDC no 69554
Joined the practice when it first opened in January 2005
having also qualified from Dundee University in 1993.
Julie worked in Canada for 6 years obtaining a pass in the
Canadian Dental Board Exam in 2004 before returning to
Aberdeen. Julie enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a special
interest in cosmetic dentistry with particular satisfaction
from seeing the results. She has undergone cosmetic
orthodontic courses in Six Month Smiles, Clear Aligner
and Inman Aligner.

Mohammad Sarris (BDS) – GDC no 85611
Mohammad started his dental career in an NHS practice
in Dundee where he worked for 2 years after graduating
from the University of Dundee, School of Dentistry in 2005.
Before joining Queens Cross Dental, Mohammad worked at
a private dental practice for 6 years where his main emphasis
was on disease prevention and patient education for adults
and children. Mohammad enjoys all aspects of dentistry
particularly improving smile aesthetics using minimally
invasive dentistry. He has recently completed the first year
of his MSc Restorative and Aesthetic dentistry
from the University of Manchester and aims to
advance his skills in Smile Design. Born in
Abu Dhabi, Mohammad has lived in Scotland
for 14 years and is fluent in spoken and written
English and Arabic.

Martin Ritchie (BDS) – GDC no 176476
Martin graduated with commendation from the
University of Dundee in 2009 and has worked
in NHS and private practices throughout the
North East before joining Queens Cross Dental
in October 2013. His enthusiasm for high
quality dentistry is matched by his attention to
detail as well as delivering a relaxing experience
for his patients. Martin is committed to post
graduate education and is currently studying
the “Complete Dentistry” curriculum with
The Dawson Academy. His ultimate aim is to
produce aesthetic outcomes which look and feel
indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Shahab Rahman (BDS MSc MFDS RCSEd)
– GDC no 176476
Shahab has been a Specialty Dentist at the
Aberdeen Dental School & Hospital since
2007. He provides comprehensive specialist
level care for patients in fixed and removable
Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics and
Implantology. His special interests include full
mouth rehabilitation including restoring severe
tooth wear/tooth surface loss cases and complex
denture cases including overdentures. He also has
interests in implantology and has had experience
in Nobel Biocare and Straumann systems.
Shahab has completed his MSc in Restorative
Dentistry from University of Newcastle in 2004,
before the completion of his Membership of
Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS RCS Ed) from
the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Stephen Martin (BDS MJDF RCS(Eng) PG Dip)
– GDC no 78011
Stephen qualified in 2000 from the University
of Dundee when he went on to work in practice
and hospital settings in Scotland and Australia.
Stephen has been running a successful private
endodontic referral practice in Edinburgh for
a number of years whilst studying part-time
for his MSc in Endodontics at the University
of Central Lancashire. He has also completed
a Higher Training in Endodontics course at
the University of Newcastle, and is a certified
Dentsply Endodontic Educator. Stephen is actively
involved in postgraduate education, running
regular courses for other dentists in endodontics.
He is happy to accept referrals for all aspects of
endodontic treatment.

Martin Donachie
(BDS, MDS(Ncle), DRD
RCS(Edin) MRD RCS(Edin), FDS RCS(Edin),
FDS RCS Rest Dent (Edin) – GDC no. 56565
Martin is the Clinical Director as well as a
Consultant/Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer
in Restorative Dentistry in Aberdeen Dental
Hospital and School. He has over 30 years dental
experience and over 18 years experience as a
specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontics,
Endodontics and Prosthodontics.
Martin has been running a successful Restorative
Dentistry referral practice in Aberdeen for
more than 18 years. He is happy to accept new
patients on a referral basis only for all aspects
of Restorative Dentistry, including periodontal
disease management, endodontic treatment and
re-treatment, complex dental implant treatment
as well as the management of aesthetic dental
problems.

Nicola Charles (RDH)
hygienist
– GDC no 4464
Nicola Charles (RDH) qualified from Dundee
Dental Hospital with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene
in September 1993 and has worked in local
general practice since. Nicola joined us in January
2008 and is interested in periodontal (gum)
health, with aims to encourage and motivate
patients to improve on their general oral health in
a comfortable environment.

Dawn Dodsworth (Practice Manager)
– GDC 151827
Dawn is from Bristol and qualified as a Dental
Nurse in 1990, she is also qualified in Dental
Radiography and IV Sedation. Dawn worked as
Senior Nurse in a Private Practice before becoming
an Area Nurse for the South West of England for
Oasis Dental Care. She moved to Aberdeen in
2008 where she joined Queens Cross Dental as
our Practice Manager.

Routine Dentistry
All of our dentists are able to provide
general dental care to our patients.
Routine dentistry is as important as
any other treatment we provide. For
the patient, routine dental care is
helpful in preventing dental concerns
from worsening and can stop dental
diseases from even starting and
developing.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are artificial tooth
roots made of titanium. Crowns,
bridges and dentures can all be solidly
attached to implants to give the most
natural, secure and long term solution
for the replacement of missing teeth.
Dental implants can offer a wide range
of benefits such as improved chewing,
reduced bone loss which can result in
increased confidence and improved
quality of smile.
Cosmetic Dentistry
The following cosmetic/aesthetic
treatments are available: composite
(tooth coloured) fillings, crowns,
veneers, bridges, gum re-shaping,
professional tooth whitening and
tooth straightening. All of which can
be used to improve your smile.
Cosmetic Orthodontics Dentistry
Orthodontic dentistry can help to
correct a variety of orthodontic
complaints such as ‘gappy’ smiles,
twisted, overlapping or protruding
teeth. Here, we are able to offer
6 Month Smiles, Clear Aligner
and Inman Aligner. These types of
treatments not only helps improve the
appearance of your smile but also the
way the teeth bite together, whilst also
making them easier to clean.
Endodontic Services
At Queens Cross Dental we are able
to carry out all aspects of endodontic
treatment better known as root canal
treatment. Root canal treatment can
save a tooth that would otherwise
have to be taken out.
Periodontal Care
Different levels of gum disease can
be treated at our practice. Martin
Donachie will be able to discuss and
offer a treatment plan to patients who
require specialist oral hygiene care.
Single visit CEREC Crowns & Inlays
The CEREC is the only system for
the fabrication of all ceramic dental
restorations in one single visit where
it can simultaneously design and mill
blocks of tooth coloured ceramic
material. For you, the patient, this
means fewer injections, less drilling,
and less time out of your hectic
schedule as well as helping restore
your teeth to their natural strength,
beauty and function.
Hygienist Care
Nicola’s main job is to professionally
clean patients’ teeth combined
with looking after the gums. Most
importantly she will work with
your dentist to give you care that is
tailored to your needs showing you
the best way to keep your teeth free
of plaque and gums healthy.
Complex Restorative Dentistry
We are able to provide a
comprehensive level of specialist care
for patients requiring maxillofacial
treatment and complex denture
cases. This includes full mouth
rehabilitation, restoring severe tooth
wear and treatment for the loss of
tooth surface
Referral Services
Due to our dentists’ many different
specialities, we are able to offer a
comprehensive referral service to
other dental practices in the North
east of Scotland from periodontal,
endodontic, dental implants to

Queens Cross Dental can help you spread the cost of your dental treatment.
We offer 0% finance for all patients up to the cost of £3500. Low interest finance
of 7.9% is available for larger amounts. Subject to terms and conditions.

Routine Dental Exam
Patients are able to pay for
treatments using cash, debit
or credit cards. All treatments
received must be paid for in full
at the time of each appointment.
Denplan Essential Maintenance Cover
Denplan Essential is a maintenance programme that allows you to access our
high quality dentistry from £16.00 per month where we offer 2 check ups,
2 hygienist appointments and 10% off treatments (excluding dental implants,
orthodontic dentistry and special offers). International emergency dental cover
is included.
Cerec Inlay*
Cancellation Policy
We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of £50 per hour if you cancel less
than 24hrs before your appointment. Failed appointments will be charged at £100
per hour.
Free Children’s Dental Check Ups
Children up to the age of 15 can receive a free check up when attending a
check-up at the same time as their parent/carer. Family check-up includes up
to 2 children free of charge (one child per adult). Any treatment required as a result
from the check up will be charged in full.
Cold Sores
If you have a cold sore prior to your appointment, please get in touch to reschedule
as you will not be able to be seen by the dentist or hygienist.
