A proper Health History is a medical-legal requirement. What questions need to be asked?
Is an interview required? The elements of a health history will be reviewed with a sample
history and interview sheet provided. We all manage patients on medications or those with
heart, kidney or psychiatric problems. Some patients have infectious diseases such as HIV,
tuberculosis or hepatitis. All these patients and many more require proper management for
safe dental treatment. Dental protocols for patients with common medical problems, will be
discussed including correct prophylactic antibiotic use for hearts and prosthetic joints,
diabetes, bleeding problems, immunosupression and other diseases. The protocols are
Internet based, are constantly updated and are always available to the practitioner.
