Overview
CiderMillPlayhouseseeksseveralpositionsinsupportof2016-17season,whichrunsyearroundbutalsohas
opportunitiesforpartialyearandshow-by-showcontracts.Eachpositionrepresentsintegralteammembersaswe
produceprofessionaltheatreundertheSmallProfessionalTheatre5annualcontractwithActorsEquity,aswellas
anon-Equitysecondstageseriesandothereducationalprogramming.Theidealcandidatesaretrustworthyselfstarterswithstrongskillsintheareaslisted,possesstheabilitytoworkefficientlyasacollectiveaswellas
independently,takedirectionwell,andarepassionatefordoingthejobwithexcellence,integrity,andasenseof
professionalownership.
ProductionManagerandTechnicalDirector:isresponsibleforsupervisingandmanagingallareasoftechnical
theatreandproductionmanagement.MusthaveBFAorBAintechnicaltheatreandhaveprofessional-model
experienceintechnicaltheatre.ThetimeofthePM/TDwillbesplitbetweendrafting,budgeting,purchasingof
materialsandequipment,buildingontheshopfloor,andmanagementresponsibilitiesincludinghiring,
supervision,andday-to-dayshopandtheatreoperations.TheTDwillleadallloadinandstrikesandisresponsible
forsafetyinthesceneshopandtheatrespacefortheshopstaffandothercompanymembers.Inthispositionyou
shouldexpecttoworknightsandweekends.Mustbeagoodcommunicatorandbeastrongleaderincludingthe
abilitytoworkwithinbudgetandtimelineparameters.ThispositionmaybesplituptoaTechnicalDirectoronly
andtheProductionManagementpositionmaybecombinedwithanotherpositionsupportingamajorareaof
production.Pleaseapplyifinterestedineitheraspectofthisposition;itdoesnotneedtoremainacombined
positionfortherightcandidates.
Requirements:
-workingknowledgeoftechnicaltheatreincludingtheatricalbuildingtechniquesandrigging
-draftinginAutoCADand/orVectorworks,creatingconstructiondrawings,budgetingscenerycostsand
timelines,andworkingwithscenicdesigners
-scene,costume,propshopefficiency,safetyandprocedures;versedinOSCHAregulations
-productionmanagementactivitiesincludingtheabilitytorecruitandsupervisetechnicaltheatrecrew
chiefsandschedulethetheatreandsceneshopforallareasofproduction.
-abilitytosetupinventorycontrol,purchasing,budgeting,schedulingandrentalofassetssystemsfor
stafftoimplementandmaintain
-rentalsoffacilitiesandsupportingofsamefromatechnicalneedsperspective
-workingatheightsandmustbeabletolift75lbs.Avalidlicenseisrequiredandabilitytodriveabox
truckaplus.
CompensationandContractPeriod:
$500perweeknegotiablebasedonexperience/finalizeddutiesplushousing.Thispositionisbeingactively
recruitedtobefilledassoonaspossibleandwhileitrunsthroughAugust2017,singleormultipleshowcontracts
willbeconsidered;foraoneyearcontract,earlyreleasemaybeawardedwithnoticeandbymutualagreement.
CMPmayofferapartialseasoncontractand/orprobationaryperiodcontract.
VariesProductionpositions,whichmaybeshow-by-showorcombinedintoaresidentapprenticeship:
Availablepositionsincludemasterelectrician,mastercarpenter,soundengineer,wardrobesupervision,scenic
chargeartist,andpropsmaster.Wewillbehiringshow-by-showforallthesepositionand/orcombiningtheminto
residentormultipleshowcontractsaccordingtocandidates’skillsetsandtheneedsofthecompanyattimeof
resume&coverlettersubmission.Thereisalsoanoptionforreleasetimefromaresidentpositiontopursueover
hireoroutoftownworkforaresidentapprentice,asallowedbytheproductioncalendar.
Requirements:ABFAorBAinarelatedfieldorenrollmentinanappropriatetheatremajorleadingtoabachelor’s
degreeand/orworkingknowledgebasedonexperienceinaprofessionaltheatresetting.Forthosecommuting,
transportationisamust.Forthoseinresidence,avaliddriver’slicense.Abilitytoconductphysicaldemands
standardtothepositions;thesewillbeoutlinedspecificallyduringtheinterview/hiringprocess.
CompensationandContractPeriod:
Basedonposition,lengthofcontract,andexperience.Thesepositionsarebeingactivelyrecruitedtobefilledas
soonaspossibleandsingleormultipleshowcontractswillbeconsidered;foraoneyearcontract,earlyrelease
maybeawardedwithnoticeandbymutualagreement.
HouseManager/CompanyManagerApprenticeship
Theapprenticewillprovidesupportinallareasofgeneraltheatremanagement.Dutiesmayinclude,butarenot
limitedto,housemanagement,companymanagement,boxofficesupport,socialandprintmediatasks,managing
frontdeskandansweringphones,assistinginallday-to-dayoperationsoftheoffice,andtakingonadministrative
projectsinallareasofthecompany.Thisapprenticeshipwillbedesignedtoallowforgrowthinareasofinterest.
Requirements:
Idealcandidatewillhaveadegreeintheatremanagement,experienceinaprofessionaltheatre,astrongdesireto
pursueacareerinatheatreartsmanagementfield.
CompensationandContractPeriod:
$175perweeknegotiableplushousing.ApprenticeshipbeginsAugust15,2016foraperiodofoneyearwith
optionforearlyreleasebymutualconsentandpossibilityofanextendedcontractasanemployee.Housing
includingallutilities,internetandlaundry,parkingandweeklystipendprovided.
Marketing&DevelopmentAssociate
ThispositionisakeymemberoftheresidentstaffatCiderMillPlayhouse,withresponsibilityforallaspectsof
marketingthetheatretoourexistingaudiencewhilepayingparticularattentiontonewaudienceobjectives.
Additionally,thepositionsupportsdevelopmenteffortsthataresharedwiththeExecutiveArtisticDirectorand
BoardofDirectors.Strongcommunicationskills,attentiontodetails,creativity,organization,charismaandthe
abilitytodevelopgenuinerelationshipsaresomeofthequalitiesthesuccessfulcandidatewillpossess.The
theatreisthefirstandonlyEquitytheatrecompanyinBroomeCounty,anareawithastrongcommunitytheatre
presence,andtheabilitytoeducateandexcitepatronsandbusinessleadersaboutourestablishinganEquity
theatrecompanyisakeyaspectleadingtosuccessinourcomingseasonandbeyond.
Requirements:
Degreeintheatreartsmanagement,experienceinaprofessionaltheatre,astrongunderstandingofeffective
marketinganddevelopmentstrategiesfortheatre,anddesiretopursueacareerintheseareasand/ortheatre
management.
CompensationandContractPeriod:
$300perweek(negotiable)plushousingincludingallutilities,internet,freeparkingandlaundryservices.Oneyear
contractbeginningAugust15–22withoptionforearlyreleasebymutualconsentandpossibilityofanextended
contractasapermanentemployee.
