Our Dear Audience,
This show marks the start of our sixth season. As we watch you taking your seats at each performance,
we marvel equally at how many familiar faces we’ve seen at our shows from the early days and at how
many new faces we continue to see. Whether you’re an old friend or a new one, welcome.
We always enjoy experimenting with our model, and this show is no exception. Marking the 30th
mainstage show we’ve produced, it also marks the first time that Joey has not directed. He was happy
to pass the reins to the remarkable Steven Dean Moore, whose choreography was seen in Urinetown
last season. His unified vision as director/choreographer and passion for teaching the company
members has brought this ambitious script and score to vivid life. Even after “aging out” of R2P, our
alums consistently continue to stay involved, and we are pleased to welcome back a number of R2P
alums. Additionally, we reached from “town” to “gown” and invited a handful of wonderful IC theatre
majors to be a part of the cast for this production. You never know what we’ll be cooking up next!
We’re so glad you’ve chosen to spend part of this holiday season with us for A Christmas Carol. This
timeless tale provides a wonderful reminder to us all about the spirit of generosity and that it’s never
too late to change. We wish you a safe, healthy, and happy season. We look forward to seeing you
again soon.

designer and eventually technical director for Leonard Bernstein's Mass in 2009. He also worked

dancing, and snowboarding. He is very excited and honored to be involved with this show as
well as being an assistant stage manager for Annie (coming in January)! He would like to thank
his mom for being so supportive of him, as well as the entire company, and especially the

PIERRE CLAVEL (Technical Director) has been working professionally in theater all over the
country since 1987. Which is far too long. He is a parent of an R2P actor, and has lived in
Ithaca off and on since 1963, which is even longer. A huge thank you to Steven Brookhouse,
Chris Hazel, Kenny Broadwell, Dick Archer, and the Cornell and Ithaca College Scene shops.
SAMUEL B. LUPOWITZ (Bass) is a 2012 graduate of Ithaca College who can now be seen
around the Ithaca area playing piano and singing in his soul-rock group, Samuel B. Lupowitz
& The Ego Band. Their new record, Songs to Make You Wealthier and More Attractive, is
available on iTunes, CDBaby, and samuelblupowitz.com. In addition, Sam is busy preparing
his rock opera about the Lincoln assassination, The Handsomest Man in America, for
another production in 2013, and is also working on a southern rock adaptation of Hamlet. Following successful runs of Hairspray and Urinetown, it’s great to be back in the R2P pit!
RACHEL FRANK (Rebecca Cratchit) is very excited to be participating in Running to Places
for the first time. She hasn’t had a lot of theater in the past, so she hopes this will go well.
Rachel dances at Armstrong School of Dance and loves singing. In her free time, she writes.
Rachel is loving Running to Places and a A Christmas Carol and hopes you will too!
SAVANNAH (VANNA) PLEIL (Granny Pickwick/Ensemble) is delighted to be in her first-ever R2P
show! Vanna is a junior at Ithaca High School who just moved here from Hamburg, Germany. She
would like to thank her loving and supportive family for making R2P possible, and especially the R2P
staff and cast who have made her new life in the USA a life filled with activity and enjoyment from
the moment rehearsals began. Merry Christmas, or as the Germans say: Fröhliche Weinachten!
SOFIA BOUCHER (Headless Ghost/Dancer) has previously been in Oliver and Oklahoma with
R2P. She moved here a year ago from Hawaii where she used to dance hula. She is very
excited to be a part of A Christmas Carol even though her head falls off. Enjoy the show!
SOPHIA TANTILLO (Scrooge’s mother): Sophia is so excited to be a part of this amazing show!
This is her third season of Running to Places and her sixth show with the company. Her most
recent roles in R2P were part of the “Chorus” in Oklahoma and the “Rose seller” in Oliver. She’ll
also be in Honk! this spring. Sophia is currently working on her school show in Trumansburg
and is an assistant stage manager for the upcoming R2P show Annie. She’s been very busy with
both shows and it’s unfortunate that A Christmas Carol has to end. It's been extremely
enjoyable working with this wonderfully talented cast, crew, and production team. She'd like to
thank Tburg parents for all the carpools, her own family for putting up with the crazy schedule,

RUNNING TO PLACES STAFF
GAIL BELOKUR (Resident Producer and Co-Artistic Director) received her BA in Drama from
Ithaca College and has worked professionally with young people in the performing arts in
Upstate New York for over 20 years. Her wide range of credits include stage managing,
producing, directing and designing (scenic, costume and lighting) for all R2P shows plus dozens
of other plays, musicals and dance recitals for middle and high school students. As founder
and artistic director of New Vine Productions, Gail also taught acting workshops and developed
arts programs for theatre, dance, music and the visual arts before merging this endeavor into
the launching of Running to Places. She is employed full time by the company. Gail shares her
home with husband George, daughter Shauna and son Michael with visits from daughter
Kristen, son-in-law Justin and the most precious grandson of all time (so far), Dominick.
JOEY STEINHAGEN (Resident Director and Co-Artistic Director) has been teaching, acting in,
and directing theatre for young people throughout Tompkins County since 1993. He
received his BFA in Acting from Ithaca College. Over the years, he has directed musicals and
plays at Ithaca and Dryden High Schools, Dryden, Boynton, and Dewitt Middle Schools, for
the Northern Lights Learning Center, and the Hangar Theatre’s Kiddstuff series. Joey has
taught acting at Ithaca College, Cornell, SUNY Cortland, Hangar Theatre’s Next Generation
program, and the Ithaca Youth Bureau. As an actor, Joey has appeared at the Kitchen
Theatre Tony and the Soprano (“Tony,” world premiere), Precious Nonsense (“Pete,” world

Pay (“Luigi”). He is proudest of his favorite production: Aram.
LINDA HARRIS (Finance Manager) As an R2P parent she was, and continues to be, extremely
inspired by the dedication of the founders of R2P. She has observed their positive influence on
our sons and daughters and the enormous amount of personal time they give, all delivered
with never-ending enthusiasm and a smile. When R2P reached the goal of obtaining their nonprofit status (no small feat in itself!) and needed to move forward to prepare to do business
“officially” she gladly volunteered her services to help them set up shop. She brings with her, (in
addition to her enthusiasm and excitement!), over twenty years of finance and administrative
experience. More than ten of those years were in the non-profit sector. Most recently, she spent
several years as a Grant and Contract Officer for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at
Cornell University and currently works for the Bioacoustics Research Program at the Cornell Lab
of Ornithology as their Financial Analyst, Grant and Contract Specialist. She looks forward to
working with the rest of the R2P staff and many wonderful volunteers “behind the scenes” and
supporting their hard work and heartfelt efforts for our local youth.
SHARON NELSON (Company Manager) is enjoying her first season with R2P. She has been teaching
in the Ithaca City School District since 1999 and is now one of the teachers on the First Grade Team
at BJM Elementary School. Sharon has an administrative assistant degree from SUNY Canton where
she was in charge of booking all campus entertainment. She worked four years as personal manager
and promoter for Jamie Notarthomas, singer/songwriter (Syracuse). She especially appreciates R2P
music because she played clarinet in pit orchestras in high school and performed for three years
with the West Genesee Wildcat Marching Band. Sharon thanks her Mom, Norinne and her husband,
Mark and three children, Elliott, Roxanne and Corinna for their constant support!
TYLER M. PERRY (Resident Designer): has spent the season as Running to Places’ Resident
