Dec. 16-18 CHICAGO October 12, 2007 Remy Bumppo Theatre Company presents the Chicago premiere of James DeVita's one-man tour de force, Dickens in America, featuring James Ridge and running Dec. 16, 17, and 18 at 7:00 pm in the Upstairs Mainstage at the Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater, 2257 N. For group rates and reservations contact GroupTix at 877-4-GRP-TIX (877-447-7849). This exciting new play follows Charles Dickens as he makes the last stop on his final American tour. Witty dialogue combines with excerpts from Dickens' greatest novels, vividly bringing to life some of the most beloved characters in all of fiction. Dickens in America features actor James Ridge, who uses make-up, costumes, and physicality to truly become Dickens in what Vital Source Magazine describes as "a spellbinding, highly charismatic performance." Ridge is a member of American Players Theatre's Core Company. James DeVita, a native of Long Island, NY, is an author and playwright. Along with his two novels, The Silenced and Blue, he has also written more than 16 plays and adaptations of classics for young audiences. He is the resident playwright for First Stage Theater for Youth and a member of American Players Theatre's Core Company. Dickens in America was previously produced at American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Dickens in America will run for three performances only December 16, 17, and 18. All performances will begin at 7:00 pm, in the Victory Gardens Greenhouse Upstairs Mainstage Theatre. Tickets are $25 on Sunday and Tuesday. Monday's performance will include a special postshow reception with both the actor and playwright. Tickets for the Monday performance are $40.
