KALEIDOSCOPE THEATRE – CREATIVE BIOGRAPHIES DAVID G. PAYTON (Executive Director) – David’s 45 year career in theatre began as Composer/Playwright in Residence at the Young People’s School for the Performing Arts, he was a composer/writer for the cable television series, ‘Just For Laughs’ which starred Fred Travelena and head writer/composer of the theatre’s original, weekly half hour family television series, ‘Kaleidoscope Theatre’ which ran for three years on ABC-­‐RI. One of the founders of the theatre in 1977, his original school touring productions took the company throughout the US and his award winning play,’ I’m Special – You’re Special’, about a young boy with Down Syndrome who is included into his brother’s and sister’s school, was chosen to represent the US at an International Down Syndrome Conference in Israel. His production, ‘Sea Babies’, an ecological musical ‘saving today for tomorrow’ was performed at the White House, Washington, D.C. He has written over twenty fairy tale musicals, six dinner theatre murder mysteries and several award winning school touring productions; most recently, B.U.L.L.Y. (Better Understanding by Listening and Learning about You), which is a peer education musical that gives audience members the strategies and solutions for dealing with and helping to stop bullying in its tracks. Mr. Payton has received numerous awards including, a RI Jefferson Award, for his work with handicapped and disabled actors, and a RI Justice Award for B.U.L.L.Y. His original productions have been performed at The Wilbur Theatre, The Cape Cod Melody Tent, The South Shore Music Circus, the North Shore Music Theatre, the Oakdale Theatre, the Kelsey Theatre, the Allentown Symphony Hall, the Warwick Musical Theatre, to name just a few. JAMIE L. DELLORCO (Education Coordinator/Performance Director) – Jamie has been working in many different aspects of theatre since graduating from Rhode Island College in 2007 with degrees in both Musical Theatre and Literature with a concentration on folklore. She started as an actor with Kaleidoscope Theatre while still in college, playing the title role in Kaleidoscope Theatre’s production of “Mother Goose”. After College Jamie spent 2 years as part of the resident youth tour at the Merry-­‐Go-­‐Round Playhouse under the direction of Ed Sayles. There she received training in performance for youth, theatre education, and puppetry. Jamie returned to Kaleidoscope Theatre in the fall of 2009 as the Education Coordinator and Performance Director. Since then she has worked extensively with Kaleidoscope Theatre’s award winning school touring anti bullying presentation “B.U.L.L.Y.”, as well as performing in many of Kaleidoscope Theatre’s touring fairy tales. Favorite Kaleidoscope roles include Good Fairy Charlotte in “Sleeping Beauty”, Anya Queen of the Gypsies in “The Frog Prince”, and the title role in Kaleidoscope Theatre’s touring production of “Snow White”. Other current theatrical involvement includes principal roles in the musical scenarios at both King Richard’s Faire, (New England’s largest and longest running renaissance faire), and the Florida Renaissance Festival, as well as portraying Annie Sullivan while giving guided historical tours of Harvard Square with Cambridge Historical Tours. JASMINE D. READY (Administrative Director, Stage Manager) Jasmine joined Kaleidoscope Theatre in 2008 when she auditioned and played the role of Queen Obnoxia in their touring production of Rumpelstiltskin. Other roles with Kaleidoscope include the evil fairy Uglicia in Sleeping Beauty and Aladdin’s Mother in Aladdin. She joined the staff with behind-­‐the-­‐scenes administrative duties and tech support at Kaleidoscope Theatre in May of 2010 and is integral in the production and mounting of Kaleidoscope’s long-­‐running Summer Touring Series, as well as the touring shows to New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. Other theater credits include: most recently reprising her role for the fourth year as Queen Guinevere at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire. Other Environmental Theatre projects include Queen Isabella at The Florida Renaissance Festival, Countess Constance at King Richard’s Faire and Agnes Bonnet at The New England Pirate Faire. Stage work includes Lucinda in Into The Woods and Titania in an adapted A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Other credits include work with Jest Murder Mysteries, Comedy Theatre Company, Cambridge Historical Tours and Pastimes Entertainment. She also co-­‐produces and performs with a theatre company started by her and her husband which offers character appearances and interactive family friendly musical entertainment called Faire Stories.
