The new Australian tour of the epic Queen and Ben Elton musical WE WILL ROCK YOU exploded onto the stage at the Sydney Lyric Theatre on 5 May, receiving rave reviews from critics and audience members alike, and standing ovations each performance. The Australian said “It’s deliriously, majestically, mad entertainment” while the Daily Telegraph described the production as “funny, cheeky, great entertainment … WE WILL ROCK YOU delivers everything it promises.” Arts Hub said it is “laugh-out-loud funny”, Australian Stage said it is “A hell of a fun night out” and Stage Whispers claimed, “This production will rock your socks off!”. The Sydney Morning Herald declared, “WE WILL ROCK YOU hits all the right notes …. You will be rocked.” Producer John Frost, on behalf of his co-producers, said, “I’m thrilled to bring this entertaining and epic celebration of Queen to Perth and Adelaide. We have assembled an extraordinary and high energy cast, who are receiving huge acclaim from both audiences and media.” Writer and director Ben Elton added, “I’m especially excited to bring WE WILL ROCK YOU to my adopted home town of Perth, where I know audiences will love it. I’m so proud of this new production of the show which really is dynamite with a Laser Beam! It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to work on.” The Sydney Lyric Theatre season will continue until June 26, then the production travels to Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 10 July; then on to Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from 30 August, before it travels to Perth’s Crown Theatre from 15 November and the Festival Theatre, Adelaide from 30 December. WE WILL ROCK YOU stars Gareth Keegan (Jersey Boys) as Galileo, Erin Clare (Heathers) as Scaramouche, Casey Donovan (The Sapphires) as Killer Queen, Brian Mannix (Uncanny X-Men) as Buddy, Jaz Flowers (Hairspray) as Oz, Thern Reynolds (Rock of Ages) as Brit, and Simon Russell (ABC TV’s Jack Irish) as Khashoggi. Also in the cast are Justin Anderson, Sheridan Anderson, Erinn Arnel, Michelle Barr, Hugh Barrington, Kyla Bartholomeusz, Sarah Clarke, Keane Fletcher, Scott McConnell, Suzie Melloy, Ruvarashe Ngwenya, Morgan Palmer, Joshua Russell, Ryan Sheppard, Leigh Sleightholme, Ashlee Smith, Thalia Smith, Mike Snell, Kate Thomas, Karla Tonkich and Paul Watson. Since 2002 over 16 million theatregoers in 28 countries have been thrilled by this awe-inspiring production which is based on the songs of Queen with a book by Ben Elton (The Young Ones, Blackadder, Popcorn). Elton fashioned this hilarious futurist comedy around more than 24 of Queen’s biggest hit songs including We Are The Champions, Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free, Somebody To Love, Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now, Under Pressure, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites The Dust and of course, We Will Rock You. WE WILL ROCK YOU reflects the scale and spectacle that marked Queen’s live performances and earned the band its pinnacle position in rock history. With Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor as music supervisors and “a band without parallel in the theatre” behind the cast, the audience can expect WE WILL ROCK YOU to rock as fiercely as the best of Queen’s concerts. The 2016-7 Australian tour is produced by John Frost, Queen Theatrical Productions, Phil McIntyre Entertainment and Tribeca Theatrical Productions. wewillrockyou.com.au @ROCKYOUAU To access images please click on the media section / password: rock SEASON DETAILS PERTH Venue: Season: Performance Times: Price: Bookings: Crown Theatre, Burswood From 15 November Tues 7pm, Wed–Sat 8pm, Sat matinee 2pm, Sunday 1pm & 6pm From $69.90* ticketmaster.com.au or 136 100 Groups 8+ call 1300 889 278 TICKETS ON SALE 13 JUNE ADELAIDE Venue: Season: Performance Times: Price: Bookings: Festival Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre From 31 December Tues 7pm, Wed–Sat 8pm, Sat matinee 2pm, Sunday 1pm & 6pm From $69.90* bass.net.au or 131 246 Groups 8+ call 08 8205 2220 TICKETS ON SALE 6 JUNE *An additional transaction fee and/or a credit/debit payment processing fee may apply Media enquiries, please contact: National - Ian Phipps, IP Publicity, at [email protected] or 0419 977 649, or Jai Higgs at [email protected] or 0405 709 705 Perth – Lynne Burford at [email protected] or 08 9355 1455 or 0417 921 038 Adelaide – Petrina Egan at [email protected] or 08 8216 8699 or 0423 324 288 SEASON 2016 ON SALE NOW Adelaide Cabaret Festival 10 – 25 JUNE 2016 Adelaide Guitar Festival 11 -14 AUGUST 2016 OzAsia Festival 17 SEPTEMBER – 2 OCTOBER 2016 dreamBIG Children’s Festival 18 – 27 MAY 2017 Stay in touch, be our friend or watch something new… Confidentiality statement: This email (including attachments) is confidential and may be privileged.
