Our Mission
Front Row Centre Players Society is a
charitable arts organization, dedicated to
providing a fun and safe environment for
anyone to participate in and learn all aspects
of musical theatre and to deliver enjoyable,
high quality entertainment to our community.
Our Vision
To be a driving force in the community by
enhancing the cultural environment through
the active promotion of musical theatre.
Our Values
Community • Fun • Diversity • Creativity
Passion • Safety • Opportunity • Teamwork
Hello and welcome to the second show of our
25th Anniversary Season. We are thrilled at
the overall reception that our move into our
new theatre has received. We know that there
is still more that we can do to improve our
audience and participant experience and plan
to continue doing so.
Did you know that the Beddington Heights
Community Arts Centre is at least the 9th
venue that FRC has produced shows in? The
first FRC production was in the Betty Mitchell
Theatre that used to have its home on the
lower level of the Southern Alberta Jubilee
Auditorium.
Now, as then, we are supported by the
passion and love for theatre of a number of
dedicated
volunteers

My journey with community theatre started when
I was 9 years old when I played Charlie Bates in
the Medicine Hat Musical Theatre’s production of
Oliver! Since then I have supported community
theatre as a director, actor, choreographer and
patron. There is no better way to build memories
than being part of an ensemble cast and crew. I
am excited to make my return to community
theatre with the production Footloose.
Thirty years ago, Footloose, the movie, came to
the big screen and audiences fell in love with the
catchy ’80 tunes. The movie was then turned
into a Broadway musical and Front Row Centre is proud to bring our
production of this popular show to the new Beddington Heights
Community Arts Centre.
When you think of musical theatre, quite often you think of a fluffy fun
storyline. Footloose will surprise you. It is more than high school fluff. It
is even bigger than Kevin Bacon (if that is possible).
Footloose is a show about community; a community that has undergone
pain and separation. At the heart of this show, there is a story about the
growing pains of youth, loss of family, freedom and the distance we all
experience between parents and their children. In the end though, the
moral we can hopefully take away from this energetic production filled
with large dance numbers and powerful vocals, is that the only way a
family (or community) can survive is through communication,
understanding and love.
I hope you enjoy our production and revel in all of the things that made
Footloose the iconic film and stage production that it has become. More
importantly, I hope you leave with a little more awareness that, on a daily
basis, it is important to listen and show love to those closest to us. It
teaches us that it's okay if things are not perfect all the time. It proves
that dancing is not a crime.
Thanks to all of you who support live community theatre. Sit back, kick
off your Sunday shoes and everybody… cut Footloose!

JASON BAKAAS (YOUTH CHORUS)
Jason is doing this show to get back into the groove of theatre after leaving high school. He has
been in three productions before Footloose, two of which were produced in school. Jason enjoys the
small background roles because he feels it’s what truly gives life to a scene. He wants to wish
everyone a happy new year even though that was like a month ago but he’s notoriously late for
everything anyways.
MARIANE BARREDO (ADULT CHORUS)
This is Mariane's first production with FRC and is looking forward to getting involved in more. Her
past work includes Les Misérables (Eponine), The Vagina Monologues, and Working by Studs Terkel.
She wholeheartedly thanks the Footloose cast and crew for a wonderful experience.
SAMANTHA BELLAMY-SMITH (YOUTH CHORUS)
Sam is delighted to be making her community theatre debut with FRC! Most recently, she starred as
Theatre Widow in the unknown play Sitting in the Audience, Reading Bios, While Cheering on My
Husband. But as Theatre Widows are known to do from time to time, she’s decided to shake things
up and join her husband onstage because it’s time to cut loose!
HARRISON BENTLEY (YOUTH CHORUS)
Although this is the first musical for Harrison outside of high school, he is very excited to be part of
such a talented and wonderful group of people. Harrison hopes that everyone enjoys watching the
show as much as he has enjoyed getting to be a part of it (p.s. she doesn’t even go here ->)
MANDEE BIRD (RUSTY)
Mandee is extremely excited to be playing the role of Rusty! Granted, she does tend to get overexcited about most things. But, that’s why she was cast. That, or it’s her stunning good looks…she
thinks… Mandee attended Capilano University, studying Music, majoring in Opera. She has held roles
in musicals such as Man of La Mancha, Godspell, Wizard of Oz, several operas, as well as singing in
professional choirs.
JACQUELINE BOURQUE (ARIEL MOORE)
Jacqueline is excited to be doing her third show with FRC (The Producers 2011, Gypsy 2012). Ariel
and Jacqueline are very similar in some ways and she would like to thank her real life "Ren" for
helping her push boundaries. Thank you also to her family and friends for the unending support.
CARLEIGH CARTMELL (YOUTH CHORUS)
This is Carleigh’s second FRC show and she has been participating in musical theatre since she was
twelve. Carleigh is a member of the ensemble and she is thrilled to be part of such an amazing cast
and crew. Her past credits include Into the Woods (Cinderella), and Les Misérables (Factory Girl).
Thanks to everyone at FRC and to her family for their incredible encouragement and support.
BRYCE CHRISTIANSON (YOUTH CHORUS)
Is crying
CATHARINE DAVIS (LULU WARNICKER)
Catharine is excited to perform in her first community theatre production in Calgary with Front Row
Centre Players. Catharine moved here last year from Houston, TX, where she was also involved for
six years behind-the-scenes, in set preparation and as a performer with Centre Stage Theatre.
Thanks to her wonderful family for their support and encouragement!
CATY DAVIS (WENDY JO)
Caty attends Central Memorial where she is a Grade 11 student in the Theatre Arts PVA program.
This is her debut with FRC. She came to Calgary from Texas, where she was also active with Centre
Stage Theatre and the TUTS musical theatre school at Houston’s Hobby Center. Past roles include
Kendra (13), Shulie (School House Rock), Lady Larkin (Once Upon a Mattress), Ensemble (Joseph…).
After Footloose, she will be performing in the PVA production of The Sound of Music, May 20-25.
NICOLE DICKINSON (YOUTH CHORUS)
Nicole wishes we could all get along like we used to in middle school. She wishes she could bake a
cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy.
ERICKA ESPLIN (YOUTH CHORUS)
While singing is really not her "thing", dancing sure is. Ericka has been dancing since age 3 and has
never looked back. Ericka is very excited to be in her second show with FRC, especially one about
dancing, and thanks everyone for their hard work putting the show together.
JORDANNA FRASER STANGELAND (PRINCIPAL HARRIET CLARK)
Ever have a dream where you’re back in high school? Bet you never dream that you’re the principal!
Jordanna apologizes to all of her “students” for any detentions and suspensions handed out during
the show. After 17 years with FRC, this is possibly the most energetic cast she has had the pleasure
to work with. Thanks to family/friends for their support (and expected cheering), and especially to
her theatre widower, Brad, for his continued love, encouragement and offers to do the laundry.
CHRIS GIBSON (COACH ROGER DUNBAR)
Chris is delighted to be part of an FRC production once again. The one thing that is making him stay
younger longer is all these amazing dancers and singers that are twirling about him. His recent
acting involvement was having five supporting roles in It’s A Wonderful Life put on by Morpheus
Theatre. Chris would like to thank the entire cast and production team of Footloose for doing such a
fantastic job and bringing it all together.
JESSICA JONES (URLEEN)
Jessica is but one black girl with way too much sass for her own good, she makes her way into this
production snappin’ her fingers demanding da attention. Her sass is second to none. So she says
y’all better enjoy da show.
DOUG KEELING (COWBOY BOB, JETER)
Doug is thrilled to be a part of Footloose with such a fantastic cast and crew and reliving his youth
playing a teenager! (Yes...he is indeed not a teenager. If you believed he was you will receive hugs
and kisses from him following the show). Previous credits include...The Rocky Horror Show (Rocky),
Spamalot (Galahad), The Drowsy Chaperone (Robert), and Boeing Boeing (Robert). Doug would like
to thank his AMAZING family for their continued support as he pursues his love of musical theatre.
TY KENNEDY (TRAVIS)
Ty is a first year music voice major at the University of Calgary. Musical theatre is his passion and
he’s been following it for about seven years. He was seen this season in UCalgary Operetta's
production of The Music Man and is set to appear later this year in FRC's Young Frankenstein. He has
also played leading roles in productions of: You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Anne of Green Gables,
Children of Eden and Threepenny Opera. Take some time to CUT FOOTLOOSE and enjoy the show!
DESIREE KENNY (YOUTH CHORUS)
Desiree had been living in New Zealand for 14 years before she came back to Canada This is her
first stage show since being back in Canada. Desiree won awards in New Zealand for her stage
acting. She is very excited for her first production in Canada and with FRC.
PAUL LOKODI (LYLE)
This is Paul’s first show with FRC and he couldn’t be more happy to be in this production. He was
also featured in Legally Blonde with Summerstock Calgary. He’d like to thank all of his friends,
family, and co-workers for coming to see it. He wouldn’t be able to do this without all of their
support. Enjoy the show!
JEAN MACAPINLAC (YOUTH CHORUS)
She’s probably being overshadowed by a regular sized person, but she’s there. Look for the blonde
hair; you’ll probably hear her before you see her anyway. Jean is pretty stoked to be here, because
if she weren’t here she’d just be sitting at home eating potato chips. Shout out to her mom and dad
because they still pack her a lunch even though she’s already 19 years old!
CHRISTOPHER MAVIN (WILLARD HEWITT)
This is Christopher’s first show and he’s extremely excited to be sharing it with you. He’s been
preparing by hanging out in dingy bars with cowboys, fighting anything in his way! Thank you for
coming to check out the show.
CHELSEA MILLARD (ETHEL MCCORMACK)
Chelsea is so excited to be involved with this show! It has been an absolute blast! You may
remember her from The Drowsy Chaperone (Janet Van De Graaf) with Cappuccino, Spamalot (Tim
the Enchanter) or Brigadoon (Meg) with FRC, or from running around behind the scenes with Scorpio
Theatre! She invites you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
DAVID MOTTLE (CHUCK CRANSTON)
David is really excited to work with front row centre again
Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
RHONDA MOTTLE (BETTY BLAST)
Rhonda has just recently returned from Steampunked England, where she sang and danced. Prior to
that she dressed a bunch of sorority girls and lawyer wanna-be's, Arthurian knights and Laker girls,
and a bombastic mother and her girls. Rhonda enjoys all aspects of theatre but the roller skates
might be taking things a wee bit far… And Bruce - Rhonda promises never to do two musicals in a
row… well, unless the second one's on her bucket list. Girl's gotta dance!
BILL OUELLET (COP, ADULT CHORUS)
Bill is proud to be in this great Footloose cast, and this return to FRC.
Bill has been active in
community theatre for many years and was seen in HMS Pinafore, Love on the Ropes, White
Christmas, and in 2012, The Drowsy Chaperone.
His last FRC show was Eating Raoul.
Bill has
appeared in everything from Shakespeare to Broadway musicals. Bill’s favourite roles so far were
The Old Man in Sam Sheppard’s Fool for Love and General Waverley in White Christmas.
HAILEY PALM (YOUTH CHORUS)
Hailey is absolutely thrilled to be a part of this incredible production! She is 13 years old and from
Tampa, Florida. In her free time, she enjoys walking her labradoodle and anything to do with music.
She hopes to travel everywhere, and make people happy. She would like to thank her amazing
family, friends, cast and crew for all their love and support. Enjoy Footloose!
GRAHAM PHILLIPS (GARVIN)
Graham is happier than a shellfish in tabasco to be performing with FRC again. It’s an honor and
privilege to be working with such a talented group of performers. Keep rocking!
DANIELLE RENTON (VI MOORE)
Danielle is excited to be performing in her first production with FRC. She has previously performed
with the Broadway Chorus in Vancouver and the In Players in Amsterdam. Some of her most
memorable roles have been Peggy in Godspell, Rosamund in Marat/Sade and a Winkie in The Wiz.
MURRAY SCHMIDT (REVEREND SHAW MOORE)
After being away from theatre for the past 10 years, Murray Schmidt returns in the production of
Footloose. Other Front Row Centre productions Murray has been involved with include A Funny Thing
Happened on the Way to the Forum (2001) and My Fair Lady (2004). Previous to performing with
FRC, he was involved in productions in Lethbridge, AB. Murray is excited to be back in the theatre
community and says, "I didn't look... I didn't listen.... I just saw"!
BRYAN SMITH (REN MCCORMACK)
Bryan is thrilled and humbled to be working on such a beautiful musical with such a talented cast!
His passion for musical theatre has allowed him to perform such diverse roles as: Roger in RENT
(CMT), Blake in the Canadian premiere of the musical: Austentatious (FMTG), Michael in Tick
Tick...BOOM (Scorpio), Chris in Miss Saigon (UofC opperetta), Will Parker in Oklahoma! (FRC), Jesus
in Jesus Christ Superstar (TPF) and Mickey Johnstone in Blood Brothers (CMT).
DARREN STEWART (WES WARNICKER)
Although he is happy to be on stage again, chances are you probably last saw Darren drawing
someone else’s winning 50-50 ticket at an FRC show. This is his 9th or 11th show on stage with FRC
(depending on how you count it) and also marks his 30th credit with FRC - although some of those
are a little wishy-washy too.
ALLISON TENNENT (ELEANOR DUNBAR)
Allison is thrilled to be involved in this production of Footloose, her first with Front Row Centre. She
holds a degree in theatre and has worked on shows such as A Lie of the Mind at TRU and As You
Like It with Project X theatre in Kamloops BC. Thank you to the cast and crew of Footloose for a
truly wonderful experience. For you, Nan.

WILMA ROTHBAUER (PIANO)
Wilma is so happy to work on another Front Row Centre production with Dan and Terry and a
fabulous cast, crew, and band. Many thanks.
DUSTIN THATCHER (REEDS)
Dustin is thrilled to be grooving along with the band, cast, and crew of Footloose. Dustin enjoys
being a part of FRC. Some of his credits include The Producers, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Singing
in the Rain, and Legally Blonde. Dustin is grateful for the love and support of his loverly girlfriend
Heather – also for the use of her tenor and flute.
TIM YOUNG (PERCUSSION)
Since the age of 3, Tim has exercised and explored a passion for music. He is excited for his third
show with FRC, having also played in the band for Legally Blonde and My Fair Lady. Despite his
unfortunate lack of coordination when it comes to dancing, he seems to do well enough when sitting
down behind his drumset. He would like to dedicate his performance to the memory of Jessica Lynn
Joy, who also had a passion for music (and way better dance moves).
JIM SHULTZ (GUITAR)
Jim is delighted to be back in Calgary, playing guitar for another great Front Row Centre show (but
not delighted about a return to Calgary weather). After about 20 productions at the Pumphouse,
this is his first show in Beddington. If you don't hear any guitar, he may be at the wrong theatre.
Special thanks as always to Wilma for her patience, direction and talent.
MARK JOHNSTONE (ELECTRIC BASS)
Mark has been involved in dozens of musicals on and off the stage over the past forty years.
Recently retired, he would like to get back on stage, but living in the deep southeast he suffers from
Deerfootitis – dreads the thought of driving Deerfoot Trail from home to the Beddington rehearsal
space on the regular basis required for the extensive rehearsals. He doffs his hat to all those who
are not plagued by his affliction and make the journey to be in the show.

TOM SNOW (MUSIC)
Tom Snow is one of the most respected and recorded songwriters of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. His
work can be found in virtually every genre. Artists as diverse as Barbra Streisand, Little Feat, Selena
and Ray Charles have performed his songs. Working with the cream of Hollywood’s “in-house”
songwriting talent and collaborating with a wide variety of artists, he has built an extensive and
eclectic catalogue.

DANIEL HALL (DIRECTOR, CHOREOGRAPHER)
A retired Theatre Arts Teacher, Daniel spent 32 years teaching and mentoring talented young actors
with the CBE and STS. Daniel produced and directed over 50 musicals and plays. With FRC: You’re
A Good Man Charlie Brown (Snoopy), Oliver! (Director), Annie (Director), Godspell (Director), Guys
and Dolls (Director), Company (Robert). Thanks to the cast, crew, band and tech teams for all their
hard work and especially Tom for his constant support and missed meals spent together. Enjoy!
TERRY WOOD (MUSIC DIRECTOR)
Terry has been involved in community theatre for many years, both on stage and as a Director for
StoryBook Theatre and Front Row Centre. This is her first time as Musical Director and what great
music to work with. Thanks Daniel for this opportunity. The cast has done an awesome job learning
all the difficult parts and many thanks to Wilma who got us through with her immense talent and
expertise. The band has added the final touches (Great Job). Go out there and "Cut Loose".
CARL BISHOP (PRODUCER)
Somewhere during the rehearsal process of this show, Carl went from being producer to being dad
to a second little girl. Carl's lack of sleep soon forced him to cede his responsibilities to more capable
hands and...what in the world does a Martian Viking need with all the gold in the world. That's
ridiculous. Many thanks to Colleen, Lily and Scarlet for the taking and giving of time.
JANOS ZELLER (PRODUCER)
Janos was last seen onstage in The Gondoliers. Selected credits include: It's A Wonderful Life,
Spamalot, The Producers, Run For Your Wife, Singin’ In The Rain, Assassins, Rocky Horror Show,
Brigadoon, Chicago, Emma, Pride & Prejudice, Richard III, Macbeth, Midsummer Night’s Dream, and
Twelfth Night. Much love goes to his family.
CAMERON LUGG (STAGE MANAGER)
This is Cameron's first show with Front Row Centre however he's no stranger to the stage. You may
have seen him in other productions within the community theatre realm on stage or hiding behind
the scenes. Cameron would like to thank his very understanding and supportive wife who plays the
role of Dad on top of everything else while Cameron is out having fun.
EUGENIO SÁENZ (LIGHTING DESIGNER)
Born and raised in Mexico, Eugenio has worked across Canada, his native land of Mexico and NYC.
In Calgary, he has designed costumes, lights and sets for several independent theatre companies. A
graduate of the Production Program of The National Theatre School of Canada, Eugenio is the
Technical Director at Vertigo Theatre.
LEAH WINTER (SCENIC ARTIST)
Leah is currently completing a geophysics degree, but decided to take a break, put down her
calculator, and pick up a paintbrush. This is her 7th show with FRC having previously stage
managed, prop designed, and firearm wrangled. She hopes you enjoy the show!
GINNY HUGHES (COSTUME COORDINATOR)
Ginny has worked as a fashion teacher with the Calgary Board of Education for almost 20 years. This
is her debut with Front Row Centre. Past projects include, Captain Louie for StoryBook Theatre, and
numerous shows for Up2Somthing performance choir. She is thrilled to be working with such an
enthusiastic and talented group of people!
HALEY DAY (PROPS COORDINATOR)
This is Haley’s first time as a crew member for Front Row Centre. She is currently being trained as
an actor at the Company of Rogues actor’s studio in the full time master class program. She also
has had the opportunity to perform in the Calgary Improv Festival at the Guild this year.
STEVEN EASTGAARD-ROSS (SOUND DESIGN)
Steven is pleased to be involved in his 10th show with FRC. It has been a different experience just
designing the sound. Big thanks to Jamie and the cast and crew. And a special thanks to Aretha and
Dean for all their help with running the show.
CAT BENTLEY (HAIR & MAKEUP DESIGN)
There are three different kinds of knives that are good for throwing: blade-heavy, handle-heavy,
and balanced knives. Blade and handle heavy knives are generally best for beginners as they have
an easier time rotating when thrown. It is important to use targets that are thick enough that the
knife won’t go through them, but soft enough that the knives will slide easily into them. For target
practice, use cardboard or cereal boxes; these are great for determining accuracy.
BUKI AKINLADE (ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER)
Footloose is Buki’s debut as an ASM and marks her return to the theatre after over 10 years. She
was previously involved with the Black Theatrical Ensemble at the University of Georgia. In her free
time, she likes to travel, attend concerts or take in a good movie. She thanks Daniel, Cam, Janos
and Carl for the opportunity and also thanks her family for their support.
JAMES RAVENHILL (LIGHTING BOARD OPERATOR)
James has been involved in technical theatre and theatrical lighting for many years with several
community theatre organizations. Past productions include: Little Shop of Horrors, Fiddler on the
Roof, and The Nutcracker. He is excited to be involved with theatre again and looking forward to the
unique challenges and exciting opportunities that working with FRC will provide. Footloose is one of
his favourite musicals and he is honoured to work with such great people on such a fantastic piece.
DEAN CAPLAN (SOUND OPERATOR)
Dean Caplan is a pianist, composer, songwriter, and educator originally from Saskatchewan. Dean
has performed throughout North America in diverse musical settings, from soloist to international
