DAVID WILLIAMSON – Playwright David Williamson is Australia’s best known and most
widely performed playwright. His first full – length play THE COMING OF STORK was
presented at La Mama Theatre in 1970 and was followed by THE REMOVALISTS and
DON’S PARTY in 1971. His prodigious output since then includes THE DEPARTMENT,
THE CLUB, TRAVELLING NORTH, THE PERFECTIONIST, SONS OF CAIN, EMERALD
CITY, TOP SILK, MONEY AND FRIENDS, BRILLIANT LIES, SANCTUARY, DEAD WHITE
MALES, AFTER THE BALL, CORPORATE VIBES, FACE TO FACE, THE GREAT MAN, UP FOR GRABS, A
CONVERSATION, CHARITABLE INTENT, SOULMATES, BIRTHRIGHTS, AMIGOS, FLATFOOT, OPERATOR,
INFLUENCE, LOTTE’S GIFT, SCARLET O’HARA AT THE CRIMSON PARROT, LET THE SUNSHINE and
RHINESTONE REX AND MISS MONICA, NOTHING PERSONAL and DON PARTIES ON, a sequel to
DON’S PARTY. AT ANY COST co-written with Mohamed Khadra opened at the Ensemble Theatre in July
2011. His play WHEN DAD MARRIED FURY had its world premiere in Perth at the Metcalfe Playhouse
in 2012. David’s two latest plays HAPPINESS and RUPERT will have their world premieres in 2013.
His plays have been translated into many languages and performed internationally, including major
productions in London, Los Angeles, New York and Washington. DEAD WHITE MALES completed a
successful UK Production in 1999. UP FOR GRABS went on to a West End production starring Madonna
in the lead role. In 2008 SCARLET O’HARA AT THE CRIMSON PARROT premiered at the Melbourne
Theatre Company starring Caroline O’Connor and directed by Simon Phillips. As a screenwriter,
David has brought to the screen his own plays including THE REMOVALISTS, DON’S PARTY, THE
CLUB, TRAVELLING NORTH and EMERALD CITY along with his original screenplays for feature films
including LIBIDO, PETERSEN, GALLIPOLI, PHAR LAP, THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY and
BALIBO. The adaptation of his play FACE TO FACE, directed by Michael Rymer, won the Panavision
Spirit Award for Independent Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. David was the
first person outside Britain to receive the George Devine Award (for THE REMOVALISTS). His many
awards include twelve Australian Writers’ Guild AWGIE Awards, five Australian Film Institutes’ Awards
for Best Screenplay and, in 1996 The United Nations Association of Australia Media Peace Award. In
2005 he was awarded the Richard Lane Award for services to the Australian Writers’ Guild. David has
received four honorary doctorates and been made an Officer of the Order of Australia. David has been
named one of Australia’s Living National Treasures.

MARK KILMURRY – Director Mark has directed and acted in many productions.
Ensemble directing credits include RED, THE SPEAR CARRIER, SKYLIGHT, NOTHING
PERSONAL, WARNING: EXPLICIT MATERIAL, CASANOVA (also adaptor), LAST OF THE
RED HOT LOVERS, MURDERERS, ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER, AND THE COW JUMPED
OVER THE MOON (also writer), ABIGAIL’S PARTY, LITTLE NELL, TUESDAYS WITH
MORRIE, MARY STUART, YOU TALKIN’ TO ME? DIARY OF AN OLYMPIC CABBIE (also
adaptor), THE BUSY WORLD IS HUSHED, HALPERN & JOHNSON, DERRIDA IN LOVE,
THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG, HAMLET, THE RETREAT FROM MOSCOW. Mark is the recipient of
two Norman Kessell Memorial Awards for an Outstanding Performance by an Actor for his roles in
HAMLET and JAPES and was awarded with the 2006 Hayes Gordon Memorial Award for Important
Contribution to Theatre. Mark is currently Artistic Director at the Ensemble Theatre.
JESSICA SULLIVAN – Assistant Director Jessica attained a Bachelor of Theatre
Studies (Theatre and English) from The University of New England in 2007, she also
holds a Diploma in Theatre Performance from STS 2009. Recent theatre credits include:
THE SPEAR CARRIER, WARNING: EXPLICIT MATERIAL, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING
EARNEST, MEASURE FOR MEASURE, THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND, TROILUS AND
CRESSIDA, TEARS IN TINSELTOWN, THE STRANGEST TRIBE, SISTERS, THE BLANKET
THEORY, THE CHERRY ORCHARD, JOAN OF ARC, MOONLIGHT, 242424 (Shopfront), THE SHED
(Freshly Squeezed), SAVE DRAFT and CHARITABLE INTENT. Jessica was Rehearsal Observer for
MY WONDERFUL DAY directed by Anna Crawford. This is her first Assistant Directing role to Mark
Kilmurry on MANAGING CARMEN.
RACHEL GORDON – JESSICA Rachel graduated from National Institute Dramatic Art
(NIDA) in 1996. Since graduation Rachel’s theatre credits have included KING LEAR and
MACBETH for Bell Shakespeare, CONCUSSION and DON JUAN for the Sydney Theatre
Company, LET THE SUNSHINE and NINETY, both co-productions for the Melbourne and
Queensland Theatre Companies, WIT for the Ensemble Theatre and BOEING BOEING
for the New Theatricals. She has also starred in ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, DEATH
DEFYING ACTS, LAST NIGHTS OF BALLYHOO and CRIMES OF THE HEART for Marian St Theatre
and OUT THERE for Hair Of The Dog Inc, TAMING OF THE SHREW for EHJ Productions, BIG HAIR
IN AMERICA for the Hot House Theatre Company and most recently in BETWEEN TWO WAVES for
Griffin. In 2007 Rachel was personally trained by Al Gore and The Australian Conservation Foundation
as a Climate Change Presenter for The Climate Project. Her film credits are RAZZLE DAZZLE and
THUNDERSTRUCK alongside Sam Worthington and Stephen Curry. Rachel’s television credits include
BLUE HEELERS playing Detective Amy Fox for several years. She has also had re-occurring roles on
ALL SAINTS, HOME AND AWAY and NEIGHBOURS. She has also appeared on WHITE COLLAR BLUE,
BACKBERNER, BIG SKY, NEVER TELL ME NEVER and THE COOKS. Most recently she finished filming
on a new series for the ABC called A VERY MOODY CHRISTMAS.
GLENN HAZELDINE – ROHAN Glenn graduated from NIDA in 1994. Professional
highlights have been A HOAX (dir. Lee Lewis), VICTORY (dir. Judy Davis), TOT MOM (dir.
Steven Soderbergh), ELLING (dir. Pamela Rabe), John Doyle’s THE PIG IRON PEOPLE
(dir. Craig Ilott), TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE (dir. Mark Kilmurry), A VIEW FROM THE
BRIDGE (dir. Sandra Bates), ALL MY SONS (dir. Adam Cook), THE JUDAS KISS (dir. Neil
Armfield), TRANSPARENCY (dir. Tim Jones) and AS YOU LIKE IT (dir. John Bell). His
long and fruitful association with David Williamson includes roles in world premiere productions of
DEAD WHITE MALES, BIRTHRIGHTS, A CONVERSATION and RHINESTONE REX AND MISS MONICA
and revivals of SANCTUARY and DON’S PARTY. For television, his guest appearances include TRICKY
BUSINESS, AT HOME WITH JULIA, ALL SAINTS, BLACKJACK, CORRIDORS OF POWER, STINGERS,
WATER RATS and BACKBERNER. Glenn made his feature film debut in the critically acclaimed
LAST TRAIN TO FREO (dir. Jeremy Sims). Other film credits include DRIPPING IN CHOCOLATE (dir.
Mark Joffe), THE LAST TIME I SAW MICHAEL GREGG (an experimental project directed by Steven
Soderbergh) and the celebrated short films MY MIND’S OWN MELODY and THE MECHANICALS.
He directed David Williamson’s ONE NIGHT IN EMERALD CITY at the Malthouse (for the Corrilee
Foundation), STORIES FROM THE 428 (Sidetrack Theatre) and was assistant director to Sandra Bates
on Williamson’s CHARITABLE INTENT (Ensemble Theatre) and to Wayne Harrison on DEFENDING THE
CAVEMAN (Ross Mollison Productions). Glenn is a proud member of the Equity branch of the MEAA
and sits on the board of the Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW.
DAVID HYNES – MAX David is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of
Performing Arts where he received the prestigious Leslie Anderson Award in 1996. For
Ensemble David has appeared in LOCKIE LEONARD HUMAN TORPEDO. Other theatre
credits include MACBETH, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, MEASURE FOR MEASURE,
AS YOU LIKE IT and THE WINTERS TALE for Bell Shakespeare, SHE STOOPS TO
CONQUER for STC, LIVE ACTS ON STAGE for Black Swan, STONES IN HIS POCKETS for
Riverina Theatre Company, HAMLET for Pork Chop, HENRY 5 for Household Words, A CLOCKWORK
ORANGE for CZ2, A NEW BRAIN for Blackbird and SPRUNG! for Monkey Baa. David’s television credits
include PUBERTY BLUES, HOWZAT! KERRY PACKER’S WAR, UNDERBELLY: RAZOR, RAKE, TRICKY
BUSINESS, PACKED TO THE RAFTERS, LAID, THE POLITICALLY INCORRECT PARENTING SHOW, THE
GRUEN TRANSFER, ALL SAINTS, BLUE HEELERS, TOUGH NUTS, WHITE COLLAR BLUE, BIG SKY,
BACKBERNER and 100 YEARS THE AUSTRALIA STORY. David’s voice can be heard regularly on the
ABC’s MEDIA WATCH.
MORGANA O’REILLY – CLARA Morgana O’Reilly has enjoyed a flourishing career in
film, theatre and television. Since graduating from UNITEC New Zealand in 2006, she
has appeared in feature films WE FEEL FINE and MY WEDDING AND OTHER SECRETS.
In television, Morgana has held the lead in the Screentime NZ telemovie SAFE HOUSE
and in Comedia Pictures/TVNZ’s BILLY, playing the wife of iconic New Zealand comedian
Billy T James. Other television credits include SUNNY SKIES as core cast member
‘Nicky’ premiering on NZ and Australian television in 2013, NOTHING TRIVIAL, 1000 APOLOGIES and
THE JACQUI BROWN DIARIES. Morgana’s theatre credits include WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING,
BARE and THE ENSEMBLE PROJECT with Silo Theatre, the role of ‘Desdemona’ in OTHELLO with
Peach Theatre Company, and THE HEIGHT OF THE EIFFEL TOWER performed in the Auckland Fringe
Festival, the New York Fringe Festival and most famously, in people’s homes all over the world as part
of ‘The Livingroom Tour’. This enormously successful solo show was devised and written by Morgana
O’Reilly and Abigail Greenwood and has received much praise wherever it is shown. MANAGING
CARMEN marks Morgana’s debut on an Australian stage.
LEIGH SCULLY – BRENT Leigh Scully trained with ATYP and the Griffin and since
beginning his professional career in 2005 playing Geoff in THE ALTRUISTS (Downstairs
Belvoir) he has been a regular on stage and screen. In 2007 he was nominated for Best
Newcomer in the Sydney Theatre Awards for his role in STELLA BY STARLIGHT at The
Ensemble Theatre. Leigh also appeared in BROOKLYN BOY for the Ensemble in 2010. For
television he has played guest roles on BROTHERS IN ARMS (Concord TV Productions),
PAPER GIANTS: THE BIRTH OF CLEO (Southern Star), RESCUE SPECIAL OPS (Southern Star), ALL
SAINTS (Seven Network), EAST WEST 101 (Knapman/Wyld) and HOME AND AWAY (Seven Network).
Short films Leigh has appeared in include TWO STAGE SOLUTION (dir. Girard Dorney), THE HEIST (dir.
Georgia Clark), SMILE FOR ME (dir. Anna Fraser) and THE IMPOSTER (dir. David Edwards).
STEVEN BUTLER – Designer Steven trained at NIDA in Theatrical Design, graduating
in 2004, and recently finished his Masters in Architecture at UNSW. Recent works at
the Ensemble include; BECKY SHAW (Gina Gionfriddo Oct 2012), NOTHING PERSONAL
(David Williamson, Dec 2011-12), and WARNING: EXPLICIT MATERIAL
(Geoffrey Atherden 2011). Other theatre designs include; THE MAGIC FLUTE (Adelaide),
PLAYHOUSE CREATURES (Hobart), FAUSTUS (B Sharp), THE MUSICIANS (NSW
Touring Production), THE ALTRUISTS (B Sharp), THE GRAPES OF WRATH (NIDA), VINEGAR TOM,
SPARKLESHARK, THE ILLUSION, and STAGS AND HENS. In addition, Steven has been the assistant
designer for the MTV AWARDS, NICKELODEON KIDS CHOICE AWARDS, Channel 9 TV program
‘RAGGS’, ADELAIDE FESTIVAL and BANGARRA. Whilst pursuing his love for theatre, Steven is also
utilising his background in commercial and residential Architecture, by merging Architectural
practices with the theatre design process.

PETER NEUFELD – Lighting Designer For the Ensemble Theatre: WHEN DAD MARRIED

DRAWER BOY, A LOCAL MAN, AUNTY AND ME, SPINNING INTO BUTTER and I’M NOT
RAPPAPORT. For Sydney Theatre Company: THE PIG IRON PEOPLE, THE VERTICAL
HOUR, INFLUENCE, THE CLUB, ROME TREMBLE and WUNNERFUL LIBERACE. For
Bell Shakespeare: MEASURE FOR MEASURE, THE WAR OF THE ROSES, THE SERVANT OF TWO
MASTERS, HAMLET and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. Other productions include LOOKING THROUGH
A GLASS ONION (including its season in the West End), THE BLONDE, BRUNETTE AND VENGEFUL
REDHEAD, CAFÉ BREL, THE BASTARD FROM THE BUSH, THE ELOCUTION OF BENJAMIN FRANKLIN,
DON’S PARTY, PEARLS BEFORE SWINE and PELL MELL. Peter has designed and been technical
production manager on many national & international corporate events. He has just lit the massive
BHP steel foundry exhibit in the Newcastle Regional Museum. An expert on Computer Aided Design
(Vectorworks) he also teaches at five universities.
DANIELLE MORRISON – Stage Manager Danielle graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of
Arts in Design for Theatre and Television from Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga.
With the Ensemble Theatre, Danielle has been Stage Manager for WARNING: EXPLICIT
MATERIAL, THE GINGERBREAD LADY, SKYLIGHT and A PICASSO. Stage Management
and Lighting work include: AUSTRALIAN BRANDENBURG ORCHESTRA, SYDNEY
FESTIVAL 2012, THE GOODIES, SBS YOUTH ORCHESTRA, VIVID SYDNEY - RACHID TAHA,
ADAM BRAND, MELBOURNE COMEDY FESTIVAL ROADSHOW, THE LAUGHING SAMOANS, PREMIER
STATE BALLET, THE CHASERS AGE OF TERROR VARIETY HOUR and ROCK EISTEDDFOD CHALLENGE.
Danielle worked for two years at London’s Lyric Theatre, working on productions including GHOST
STORIES, BLASTED and SPY MONKEY. Danielle is also a Lighting Technician and Stage Manager at City
Recital Hall - Angel Place, The Concourse and Riverside Theatres.
LISA MIMMOCCHI – Wardrobe Coordinator Since graduating from Sydney College of the
Arts (Fine Arts, 2002) and Victorian College of the Arts (Grad. Dip Dramatic Art set and
costume design, 2003) Lisa Mimmocchi has designed, manufactured and co-ordinated
costumes for theatre, contemporary dance and physical theatre working for independent
and commercial companies. Most recently she has been based between Italy and
Australia touring in Cirque Du Soleil’s wardrobe department in Europe and Australia.
She has worked for companies such as Sydney Festival, Performance Space, Pacific Opera, La Pocha
Nostra (San Francisco, USA), Opera Publica (Rome, Italy) and contemporary circus performers Lin
Yi and Wu Yi (Chengdu). Lisa recently co-ordinated costumes for the Chinese New Year twilight
parade for the City of Sydney and designed set and costumes for GAMES IN THE BACKYARD (ATYP
Independent) and costumes for S27 (Griffin Independent). Lisa has been co-ordinating costumes at
Ensemble since 2008.
SHONDELLE PRATT – Choreographer Shondelle graduated from Theatre Theory
and Practice at UWS and Ensemble Studios. As a choreographer, she studied under
Wendy Greenaway, Robyn Kirkland and Isobel Anderson (F.R.A.D). As a choreographer
Shondelle has worked for entertainers such as Lizzie Mitchell, The Curvettes, Maggie
Scott and Marika Aubrey. Her work extends from children’s musicals such as WE’RE
GOING ON A BEAR HUNT, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD and SHOWTIME to GLORIOUS,
THE GOD COMMITTEE, JUST THE TICKET, THE SPEAR CARRIER (Ensemble Theatre), VERNON GOD
LITTLE (New Theatre), SWEET AND LOWDOWN (Slide Lounge), CRASH TEST DUMMIES (Short and
Sweet festival), DROUGHT BREAKERS (The Acting Factory), LIFE’S A LEMON (Maggie Scott) and
CRAVE (A Bit On The Side Productions). She has also worked with students at Ensemble Studios,
choreographing MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM, ROAD, STARTING HERE STARTING NOW, IMPULSE and
various drama and musical theatre showcases for The Australian College of Entertainment and Scene
and Heard.

Patrons are advised that the Ensemble Theatre has an EMERGENCY
EVACUATION PROCEDURE, a FIRE ALARM system and EXIT passageways.
In case of an alert,patrons should remain calm, look for the closest GREEN
EXIT sign, listen to and comply with directions given by the trained in-house
attendants and if directed, move in an orderly fashion to the open spaces outside
the building. The management reserves the right to make any alter tion to cast
which may be rendered necessary by illness or any other unavoidable cause.
Patrons are reminded that out of consideration for others, latecomers cannot be
admitted until a suitable place in the performance. Taking photographs or tape
recordings during the performance is prohibited.
Don’t forget to switch off your pagers and mobile phones.
