In this book-length project, I plan to explore the historical, theatrical, artistic, and aesthetic implications of the use of real archives in political and historically charged Latin American plays and performances. My objective is to expand the notion of documentary techniques in the theatre and visual arts as a mere political tool that uncovers truths and to focus, instead, on the provocative use of real archives that parody history and the present time through the manipulation of interpretation of real documents and humor. “Fernando Bryce: Documenting with Print Media.” THEATRE PRODUCTION: Director of Música de balas by Hugo Salcedo (full production).
