Types of Dermatoscope
There are 2 simple types of dermatoscopes:
– Oil Immersion (or Non-polarised). Require a
contact gel/oil to the skin.
– Non-Oil (or Cross-Polarised). Can be used “dry”

What’s the Difference
• All the images you see in books today will have been taken using an
Oil Immersion dermatoscope.
•They will have probably used the following equipment
Nikon Coolpix camera
Heine Delta 20
Note that the Nikon is only a 3.5 mega pixel camera.
