Authorities Having Jurisdiction should be consulted in all cases as to the particular requirements covering the installation and use of UL
Certified products, equipment, system, devices, and materials.
Authorities Having Jurisdiction should be consulted before construction.
Fire resistance assemblies and products are developed by the design submitter and have been investigated by UL for compliance with
applicable requirements. The published information cannot always address every construction nuance encountered in the field.
When field issues arise, it is recommended the first contact for assistance be the technical service staff provided by the product
manufacturer noted for the design. Users of fire resistance assemblies are advised to consult the general Guide Information for each
product category and each group of assemblies. The Guide Information includes specifics concerning alternate materials and alternate
methods of construction.
Only products which bear UL's Mark are considered Certified.

(minimum 6 mm Type Superboard Estándar) attached to studs and tracks with 1 in. long, Type S screws spaced 12 in.
OC in the field and perimeter, starting 1 in. and 6 in. from the edges. At the floor and ceiling runners, screws start 2 in.
and 6 in. from the top and bottom of the assembly to avoid the floor and ceiling runner flanges. Along the floor and
ceiling runners, screws start 4 in. from the side edge of the panel. Outer layer (minimum 8 mm Type Superboard Juntas)
attached to studs and tracks with 1-1/4 in. long, Type S screws spaced 12 in. OC, starting 1 in. and 12 in. from the
edges. At the floor and ceiling runners, screws start 3 in. and 12 in. from the top and bottom of the assembly to avoid
the floor and ceiling runner flanges. Along the floor and ceiling runners, screws start 5 in. from the side edge of the
panel. All face layer joints staggered min 24 in. from underlying base layer joints. Joints staggered on opposite sides of
the studs. All screw holes in the panels are pre-drilled with a 5/16 in. drill bit, to countersink the screw heads flush with
the surface of the inner layer and outer layer panels. Joints and screw heads need not be covered with joint compound.
