(Songdo,RepublicofKorea,9July2015)–TheBoardoftheGreenClimateFunddecidedtoaccredit
13newpartnerinstitutionsonthefourthdayofitstenthmeetingthisweek,diversifyingbeyondthe
sevenentitiesitaccreditedatitslastmeetinginMarch.Thisbringsthetotalto20accreditedentities
(AEs).
AccreditationmeansthattheseinstitutionshavebeenapprovedbytheBoardtoactaschannelsthrough
whichtheFundwilldeployitsresourcestodevelopingcountries.
“Wearebuildingavibrantnetworkofpartners–whichisevidenceofarisingdemandforanactive
GCF,”saidMs.HélaCheikhrouhou,ExecutiveDirectoroftheGreenClimateFund.“Sevenmonthsagowe
invitedinstitutionsforthefirsttimetobecomepartnerswithus.Today,closeto100well‐established
institutionsfromaroundtheworldareworkingtowardsbecomingGCFaccreditedentities,”shesaid.
“Wehaveaddedtothismomentumbyboostingournumberofaccreditedentitiesto20.”
Institutionswhichwereaccreditedearlierthisyearhavealreadystartedsubmittinginitialprojectideas
and concept notes, and the Fund is working closely with its Partners towards the stage where they
submitfullprojectproposals.
AccreditationtoGCFisopentosub‐national, national, regional and international, public, private and
non‐governmentalinstitutionswhichare eligible to apply through the Fund’s Online Accreditation
System(OAS).Applicantsareassessedontheirabilitiestomeetfiduciary,environmental,social,and
genderrequirementssetoutbytheFund.
