Hearing solutions for every need: Versáta and Certéna
complete the CORE Collection from Phonak
Leipzig, Germany, October 15, 2008 – At the EUHA Congress in Leipzig,
Phonak introduces Certéna and Versáta, two new product families based on
the proven CORE platform. Together with the already available hearing
systems Exélia and Naída, these new product families form a unique product
collection to meet every client need, accommodating all levels of hearing loss,
personal preferences and lifestyle.
The CORE Collection products provide user-friendly operation, a uniform fitting process for
the hearing healthcare professional and unmatched sound performance. The innovative
technology also enables all hearing system users to access the digital world of
communication.
CORE (Communication Optimized Real-Audio Engine) is the microelectronic heart of the new
hearing system generation from Phonak. With six high-performance processors and eight
million transistors, the platform provides the necessary computing power for numerous hightech functions for a greatly enhanced user experience.

Certéna – Confidence in life
Certéna is the entry point into the CORE Collection and offers numerous high-tech functions.
WhistleBlock Technology makes feedback a thing of the past: The modern technology
precisely and reliably identifies and eliminates feedback without affecting natural signals.
Wireless connection options and cable-free fitting complete the range of functions.
Versáta – Life in motion
The mid-priced Versáta product family is particularly suitable for users with a dynamic
lifestyle. The SoundFlow Advanced automatic system, comprehensive wireless connection
options, and excellent performance ensure clear sound, improved audibility and optimum
comfort in various hearing situations. The hearing system adapts to the sound environment in
real time. With SoundFlow, Versáta provides optimum audibility for a life with an everchanging soundscape.
Exélia – Full life experience
Exélia, the first-class product of the CORE Collection, offers superior hearing performance,
optimum hearing system control, and easy access to modern communication and
entertainment technologies in stereo quality. ZoomControl allows users to individually adjust
the hearing focus for the first time. This function facilitates communication in many daily
situations, such as when driving a car. Exélia represents a quantum leap in hearing system
technology – the acoustic performance and the interaction options of Exélia are unparalleled.
Naída – The power to change life
Naída brings new soundscapes to people with profound hearing loss. The innovative
SoundRecover function of Naída restores high frequency audibility – even in the case of
steeply sloping high frequency losses. This is essential for speech comprehension and for the
perception of one’s own voice. Naída thus helps to significantly improve user hearing and
speaking capability. The high-performance hearing system offers the additional advantages of
a slim design and a water-and dirt-resistant housing. Naída provides maximum freedom,
comfort, and quality of life to people with profound hearing loss.
Wireless access to the digital world
The CORE Hearing instrument Body Area Network (HiBAN) allows people with hearing loss
to take full advantage of the modern communication world for the first time. All CORE
hearing systems can be easily connected via the iCom communication interface to external
audio sources and devices such as cell phones, MP3 players, Bluetooth devices, and analog FM
systems. In addition, the CORE technology allows binaural signal processing so that audio
data can now be exchanged between two hearing systems in real time.
Cable-free fitting
The CORE platform even makes the fitting process more comfortable. iCube allows cable-free
fitting by allowing wireless transmission of the data to the hearing systems. While the
hearing healthcare professional adjusts the settings in real time, users can even leave the
fitting room to experience real-life sounds. The need to select the correct cable is also
completely eliminated. The result: Quick and easy fitting.
All CORE Collection products are compatible with a broad range of control options and
accessories that can be assembled according to the user’s desires. The hearing system models
range from the smallest CIC systems to high-performance BTE systems and come in a variety
of colors.
The new Certéna and Versáta product families are now available.
