SYNERGISTIC ACTIVITIES Development of databases to support research: Created and administer relational database supporting data storage and exchange among the more than 90 global sites participating in the Nutrient Network collaborative grassland experiment. Coordinate data availability to Network members for querying and analysis. Promoting data management and data sharing in ecology: As member of best practices working group for the NSF-funded DataONE project, document recommended data management techniques for ecologists and other life scientists, including noting useful technological tools. Co-authored one of the original example Data Management Plans available on DataONE website. Citizen Science: Led 8 research expeditions on temperate forest ecology in a mapped forest dynamics plot at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, with each expedition attended by up to 12 citizen scientists from HSBC Corporation and the Earthwatch Institute (mentored over 100 participants).
