Sifaat-e-Salabiyya
Those attributes which are not found in God are termed as Sifaat-e-Salabiyya. These are:
He is not MURAKKAB:
It means that God is not made of anything, nor any other thing is made of /from Him.
He has no JISM (body):
It means that God does not possess anybody.
He has no MAKAN (place):
It means that God is not limited to any place. He is all-existing without the need of place.
He has no HULUL:
It means that God does not enter into anything nor does anything enters into Him.
He is not MARAEE:
It means that God can never be seen either in this world or in the hereafter.
He is not MAHALLE HAVADIS:
It means that God is not made up of any changing matter, for e.g. he becomes old after being young, etc.
He is not SHAREEK:

He exists.
Qiyamat
The Holy Quran testifies that on one day everything in the world will be destroyed. All men will die. Allah
will then again give them life and they will be accounted for their actions in this world. The one who has
done good actions in this world will be rewarded with Heaven. While the one whose actions have been bad
in this world will be thrown in Hell.
Dear Children, exams are conducted in your schools so that the students who have studied hard
throughout the year and those who have not are known. Then the student who struggles and works hard is
declared successful. If these exams are not conducted the pupil who worked hard and the others who
didn’t work hard would be considered equal. Thus the exams are conducted. Similarly, God has declared
this world to be a place of examination. The one who works hard, that is follows the path shown by God
will be successful and will be rewarded with Heaven. He will then live there in peace and tranquility. While
the one who disobeys God will be punished. He will be thrown into the fire of Hell. He will remain there in a
state of misery.
The day on which God will take the account of our actions is called QAYAMAT (The Day of Judgment).
Children, we should therefore follow the path shown by God. We should also pray to Him to protect us
from the fire of Hell.
Questions:
Question 1:
What is our belief about QAYAMAT (The Day of Judgment)?
Question 2:
Why is the occurrence of QAYAMAT necessary?
Migration to Medina
Every moment of the Holy Prophets (PBUH) life was spent in the propagation of religion. Once a few people
from Medina came for Hajj. The speech by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had a great impact on them and they
embraced Islam. On returning to Medina they informed their fellow citizens about it.
The next year many more people came for Hajj and met the Holy Prophet (PBUH). All of them accepted
Islam from the depths of their heart and invited the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to come to Medina.
On the other hand the disbelievers in Mecca were of the opinion that it had become easy to assassinate the
Holy Prophet (PBUH) after the death of Janabe Abu Talib (a.s.). They thus formed a group of forty persons
to attack the house of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in the night. Allah the High informed the Holy Prophet
(PBUH) about this scheme and ordered him to migrate to Medina.
On the night of migration, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) made Hazrat Ali (A.S.) lie down on his bed, so that the
enemy may think that he himself is lying down.
In spite of the danger to his own life Hazrat Ali (A.S.) readily accepted to lie down on the bed of the Holy
Prophet (PBUH) so that his (PBUH) life may be saved. Allah liked this action of Hazrat Ali (A.S.) so much that
he revealed a verse in the Holy Quran honoring him.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) reached Medina safely with his companions. Here he (PBUH) started the
propagation of Islam, and the religion of Islam gradually spread far and wide.
The Muslim calendar starts with this incident of migration of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) from Mecca to
Medina.
Questions:
Question 1:
How was Islam established in Medina?
Question 2:
Why did the Holy Prophet (PBUH) migrate to Medina?
Question 3:
How did Hazrat Ali (A.S.) help the Holy Prophet (PBUH) during the migration?
Taqlid
The laws of religion like prayers, fasting, veil, etc. become compulsory on boys and girls on their attaining
maturity. From the aspect of age boys mature at the age of fifteen and girls mature at the age of nine. The
age should be calculated by the lunar calendar.
After attaining maturity it is necessary for a person to do the Taqlid of the most senior Mujtahid of his/her
time. That is in the matters of praying, fasting, veil, etc. he/she should act according to his Fatwa’s (i.e.: the
Mujtahids religious edicts).
Mujtahid is a religious scholar who can derive the laws of religion by referring to the Quran, the traditions,
and the lives of the Masoomeen(a.s.).
When a Mujtahid presents a religious edict for us in the light of the Quran, the traditions, and the lives of
the Masoomeen(A.S.) , then that edict is called as a “ Fatwa”.
Questions:
Question 1:
What is meant by Taqlid?
Question 2:
What is “Fatwa”?
Some essential matters concerning Prayers
Allah, the High has decreed the Prayers necessary for every mature (Baligh) person. Regular performance of
prayers makes Allah happy, The Prophet (PBUH), and also the Imam (a.s.). However this is possible only if
the prayers are performed in the correct manner, by paying attention to the essential matters concerning
the prayers.
Some of these essential matters of Prayers are:
1.
The prayers should be performed in the direction of the Qiblah. That is the face, the chest, the
stomach and the legs should point towards the Qiblah.
2.
The body should be at rest and not move at all while reciting anything during the prayers. The only
exception is the recitation at the time of rising up.
3.
The body and dress of the person performing the prayers should be Pak (pure).
4.
While performing prayers it is necessary for men to cover their private parts. It is better to cover
body from the waist upto the knees.
5.
While performing prayers it is necessary for women to cover their entire body including their head
and hair. Exemption from this covering is allowed for that part of the face which is washed during
wuzu, the hands upto the wrists and the legs upto the ankles. Even in condition other than prayers
it is necessary for the girls to cover themselves in front of Na-Mehram. That is cousin brothers
from either the maternal or the paternal side, etc.
Questions:
Question 1:
Why is it necessary for a person performing prayers to pay attention to the essential
matters of prayers?
Question 2:
Which parts of the body should face the Qiblah while performing the prayers?
Question 3:
To what extent should the body of women be covered up in the prayers?

Prophet (PBUH) companion
Our Prophet (PBUH) announced His prophet hood at the age of 40. For the first three years, He (PBUH)
propagated the faith secretly. In the fourth year, by order of the God, He invited forty of His relatives for a
meal at His residence. This invitation is called Dawat-e-Zil-asheerah. After food He gave them the message
of Islam and said:
Who among you all, would help me in this mission. The one who helps me will be my successor and caliph
At this moment a thirteen year old boy stood up and said:
“O Messenger of God (PBUH) I will help you in this mission?”
At that time Prophet (PBUH) said:
“He is my loyal, my friend, my vicegerent and my caliph”
The name of this companion was ‘Ali’ who is our first Imam.
Ameer-ul-Momineen Hazrat Ali (a.s.) was born on 13th Rajab 30 Aamul-feel, in Khana-e-kaba. His (a.s.)
fathers name was Imran, and his title was Abu Talib, and his (a.s.) mother’s name was Fatema Bint Asad.
Imam Ali (a.s) kept his promise he made to the prophet (PBUH) at the time of Dawat-e-Zil asheerah. During
the early days of Islam at the behest of infidel’s of Mecca their children pelted stones on the Prophet
(PBUH) and tried to torture him by various other means. It was this young companion of Prophet (PBUH)
who helped the prophet (PBUH) to keep these children away from him.
Prophet (PBUH) of God, while leaving for Medina ordered His companion to sleep on his bed.
In order to save the Prophet (PBUH), Imam Ali (a.s.) slept on his bed fearlessly, although He (a.s.) was
surrounded by enemy. After Hijrat Prophet (PBUH) fought many a wars with heretics, in these wars Imam
Ali (a.s.) played very important role for the victory of Muslims. Hence all through Prophet (PBUH) life, it
never happened that Ali (a.s.) didn’t accompany him or help him.
Hazrat Ali (a.s.)’s loyalty to Prophet and Islam was not limited up to the life of Prophet (PBUH). After the
prophet’s (PBUH) death, he (a.s.) always guarded and propagating Islam. Consequently, on 21st Ramadan
40 A.H., he was martyred. Imam Ali (a.s.) Mausoleum is in Najaf-e-Ashraf, which is in Iraq.
“O Ali! You are my brother in this world and the hereafter”. - Sayings of Prophet (PBUH)
Questions:
Question 1:
What do you know about Dawat-e-Zilasheerah? Explain briefly.
Question 2:
How did Ali (a.s.) help Prophet (PBUH) in His (a.s.) Childhood?
Question 3:
At the time of Hijrat how did Ali (a.s.) help the Prophet (PBUH)?
Truth and falsehood
One of the important qualities of human beings is truthfulness. God has ordered his created beings to
speak truth and abstain from telling lies. Quran-e-Majeed says:
“Oh believers! Have fear of Good and always speak the right thing then God will set right your deeds and
will forgive for sins”.
(Surah-e-Ahzab – verse 70-71)
Our prophets (a.s.) and Imams (a.s.) have taught people to do good deeds, and have emphasized them to
speak truth and abstain from telling lies.
Our last prophet Hazrat Mohammed Mustafa (PBUH) has said:
“A person who unnecessarily tells lies is dammed by the angels.
Ameer-al-Momineen Hazrat Ali (a.s.) says:
“Speak truth because Allah is with truthful people. Abstain from lies because it destroys faith.”
It is mentioned in another tradition.
“Abstain from lies even if it is a joke.”
If a man always speaks truth, people trust him, he is looked upon with greater esteem, he makes progress
in life, Allah, apostle of Allah (a.s.) and Imam (a.s.) are happy with such person. Conversely the person who
tells lies is not honored by people. People do not trust a liar even if he speaks truth sometime. He is at a
loss in the world and will lie in hell in the hereafter.
One of the titles of our Prophet (PBUH) is “Sadiq” which means “one who speaks truth.” The apostle or
Allah (PBUH) was given this title before the announcement of prophet hood. He (PBUH) spoke truth in such
an environment where falsehood was the order or the day. We are the followers of the Prophet (PBUH).
We must always speak truth irrespective of the atmosphere and abstain from lies even if it is only for fun.
