What is Unisoft™ material?
Woven reusable fabrics are created from a yarn and weaving
manufacturing process that creates a distinct fabric pattern
and pore size. The larger the pore size, the more freely fluids
and particles flow through the fabric.
Setting a new standard in apparel
The Affordable Care Act has brought change to Medicare
reimbursement by creating pay-for-performance metrics
in programs such as the Hospital Acquired Conditions
Reduction Program and the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing
Program. Both of these programs include metrics for multiple
types of perioperative patient infections that directly impact
reimbursement rates. Single-use scrubs and warm-up
jackets from BARRIER® provide an unquestionably hygienic
and comfortable solution to help protect your patients and
maximize reimbursement.

The AORN Recommended Practice for Surgical Attire notes
that scrubs with smaller fabric pores are clinically proven to
reduce the amount of bacteria shed into the air by two to five
times. Fabric pore size is critical as each healthcare worker
loses a complete layer of skin every four days (about 10,000
skin squames every day), and up to five to ten percent of these
skin squames carry bacteria.1
Tie-band or
elastic waist
Unlike reusable woven scrubs, BARRIER Extra Comfort fabric
skips the yarn and weaving process to significantly reduce the
fabric pore size and create a soft, breathable material.

BARRIER Extra Comfort
BARRIER Extra Comfort provides
up to three times greater bacterial
protection and up to four times
greater fluid protection than
leading reusable scrubs.2
Suggested Uses
BARRIER® Extra Comfort scrubs and warm-up jackets are
made from a unique, nonwoven spunbond material called
Unisoft™. Our manufacturing method skips the yarn and
weaving process by bonding together three layers of
randomly overlapping fibers under intense heat. This
process significantly reduces the fabric’s pore size to
minimize contamination and keep breathability high.
