Welcome!
If you are new to internet marketing, or even a newbie who has been involved for
a while, you must have figured out by now how really hard it is to begin.
You’ve probably purchased a lot of products, signed up for e-courses and
memberships, and read many reports. Internet Marketing is a broad field and
there are many possible business models and methods for making money with
internet marketing.
Nevertheless, you don’t need to be an expert on every area of marketing in order
to just get started. In fact, you only need to know how to do a few simple tasks in
order to create your first internet marketing business on the World Wide Web.
In this report, I will show you exactly how you can build a complete internet
marketing business in about a day, for just under $10 (you would eventually have
to upgrade your free accounts as your business grows, but this is a good thing –
it will mean you’re growing!).
Once you’ve set up your first business using this tutorial, you can easily replicate
the process several times over and create many businesses in several niches.
As you learn more about internet marketing you might wish to extend your reach
into other business models (blogging, membership sites, and so on).
Today, though, I’m just going to show you how to get up and running with your
first web site using a very simple and inexpensive business model I have
developed with the newbie in mind.
This internet marketing “mini site” report will show you how to identify a niche
opportunity and get your business up and running as quickly as possible.
I will offer you several options in each phase of this plan. I encourage you to
research and test more than one web page builder, autoresponder and payment
processor to find the ones that you are most comfortable using. For the purposes
of this tutorial, however, I will be teaching you how to put together this program
using Weebly for your web site, and GetResponse for your autoresponder
service.
Read on…

5
PHASE 1 -- You Need to Identify a Profitable Niche.
Choosing a profitable niche doesn’t have to be overly complicated. Consider
these steps:
1. Make a list of topics you know a little bit about (or a lot).
2. Make a list of topics you are also very passionate about.
3. Use the free keyword research tool on SEOBook and pick topics that have
around 5,000 to 10,000 monthly searches on them. (You can add up totals
for several keyword phrases; keep a list of the hot keywords you find –
personally, I like to copy and paste the whole page of results into an MS
Excel spreadsheet so I can sort my combined research in ascending or
descending order if I wish). Here is URL for the SEObook tool:
http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/
4. Now take some of your topic’s key words and phrases and type them into
Google.com to see if other businesses are already paying for advertising,
and notice what kinds of products they are selling. These are your
competitors, and you will also get a good idea if other businesses think it
is worthwhile to spend money on ads for this niche. If they do, it’s a good
thing: it will always be easier to position your product or business in a
niche that is in the path of where money is already being spent by
consumers, rather than create a niche you have all to yourself, and then
try to “create” demand (virtually impossible to do).
Pick a niche and just get started. It doesn’t have to be the perfect niche – it can
be somewhat flawed by too many competitors, not quite enough monthly
searches, etc.
Just pick one niche, and if it doesn’t work out, you’ll have lost (at most) $10.
That’s not a big investment! You can try this method many times over until you
find a niche that works. The risk is low, and the potential rewards are high. Your
first step is to just pick a topic, so that you can move on to Phase 2…
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
6
PHASE 2 -- You need TWO products…
Now you need products your niche market wants to buy. If your topic is rose
gardening, you might create a tip sheet for picking the best fertilizers for roses, or
pruning methods, or choosing the best rose varieties for different growing zones
and so forth.
This FIRST product will be a short report, tip sheet, checklist or FAQ that you will
give away FREELY to anyone who signs up for your email list. Having an email
list allows you to contact customers with your promotions and sales, and also
helps you to learn about them by researching their needs and wants with short
surveys, and even through your own forums and membership sites. This will
enable you to continue creating desirable products you can earn money selling to
your list.
I won’t go into all the advantages of list-building, since it is beyond the scope of
this report. However, I will emphasize here that if you aren’t building an email list
of customers you might as well not even bother starting a business at all. Commit
to list-building and you are committing to the future success of your business.
Leave it out of your plan, and you will fail. Period. It’s that simple.
Your first product doesn’t have to be written by you, although it’s best if you do
write it yourself. It is more personal and you can make your report more relevant
to your niche when you write and customize it yourself.
On the other hand, if you aren’t a very enthusiastic writer, or you are not
confident in your writing abilities, you can hire a ghostwriter on eLance to do it for
you (for a price).
A FREE alternative to writing your own report or paying someone else to write it,
is to simply join a web site that gives away REBRANDABLE eBooks with
Giveaway Rights. With giveaway rights you are free to give away (not sell) an
eBook. Rebrandable eBooks are those eBooks that you can alter to include your
own affiliate links inside them.
An easy way to do this without having to download an entire software package is
through a web site called ViralEBookExplosion.com You can join their program
for free with this link:
http://tinyurl.com/brandableebooks
Your SECOND product is the premium product that you will upsell to your list
subscribers after they have taken the bait and opted in to your email list to get
your free report. Your second product’s sales letter will show up on the download
page when the subscriber visits your link to get their copy of your free report.
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
7
You should pick a product that will tie in with the niche you have chosen, and is
preferably something someone would want to buy, having requested your free
report. With the first, free, report you create interest and curiosity, while
supplying useful information. This will make the customer feel a bit more
interested in reading the sales letter for your second product.
In our rose gardening tips example, you might offer a tip sheet for fertilizers, and
then upsell a complete rose gardening guide, bundled with a guide to raising
award-winning roses and how to enter competitions. You could also package it
with a landscape gardening software program, and some recipes for mulch. Try
to think of some other logical “bonus” items you could include in your product
bundle to tempt your customer to buy.
Again, you could outsource the creation of your second product to a ghost writer
or software designer on eLance.com, or you could simply purchase some lowticket products with Master Resell Rights (or unrestricted Private Label Rights)
and package those together. This is the quickest way. Be sure to read the license
agreements carefully to make sure each product’s license will allow you to resell
it as part of your own customized bundle.
A FREE alternative to buying or creating your own second product, is to upsell an
affiliate product on your second page. This could be an affiliate program for a
Rose Gardening membership site (to continue using our example), or a Rose
Gardening book club membership, or a gardening tools site or something like
that.
Additionally, you should consider using public domain sources that might offer up
a product you could repackage and resell. I recommend Tony Laidig’s site
(http://publicdomainblog.com/) for further information on using public domain
materials.
To get our business done in a day, let’s write a quick tip sheet on the niche topic
you chose. Make it interesting, and make it sound like something you would sign
up to receive if you were your potential customer. Next, pick a logical second
product or affiliate program to upsell on your download page. If you don’t mind
spending more than the $10 it takes to get this program going, you can also
glance over my $7 store, where I sell products in a variety of niches with resell
rights included:

PHASE 3 -- You need to sign up for an AUTORESPONDER account
You will need to set up an account with an autoresponder service, to manage
your customer list and email marketing campaigns.
Although there are many free autoresponder services available, most include
advertising for other businesses in your emails. This isn’t good, since you
generally want to avoid having links to other businesses and promotions in your
own emails. However, two premium services let you have a free starter account
initially: iContact and GetResponse. Both are excellent services, known for
professional presentation and deliverability. I personally use GetResponse.
The most popular autoresponder service with most internet marketers is Aweber.
They don’t have a free trial account so you can test it, but a starter account is
$19 per month, for 0 to 500 subscribers. Most autoresponder services base their
monthly pricing on how many subscribers you have. You can still get an idea of
Aweber’s services by viewing their free video tutorials:
http://www.aweber.com/videos.htm
GetResponse allows you a free account for up to 200 subscribers. If you are
starting out on a budget (as this report assumes), you can have a professional
autoresponder service that supports up to 200 subscribers, and one email
campaign with up to 5 messages, for free. This is a good way to try out their
service and features, and see how you like them.
http://tinyurl.com/FreeGetResponseAccount
iContact also offers a 15 day free trial, for up to 250 subscribers, but keep in
mind that after 15 days you have to pay to continue your service.
You might wish to sign up with both GetResponse and iContact to explore their
features and tutorials to learn a bit about how to use them, before deciding which
one to use when you begin promoting your web site and gathering subscribers.
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
9
FreeAutobot is a completely free autoresponder some people use, if you
absolutely must have a completely free service. I don’t recommend it, but I
understand if $19 a month is an ongoing expense you can’t justify right now.
Keep in mind that once you have a subscriber list of 200 people you should be
able to make at least enough money to cover your autoresponder bill each
month. If not, figure out what is going wrong with your email campaign and fix it!
It may be difficult to migrate your list from one service to another if you decide to
change later on, so it’s best to choose a service you can live with from the getgo, if you possibly can.
http://www.freeautobot.com
JV-Marketers also offers a free trial autoresponder account:
http://tinyurl.com/JVAutoresponderFREE
For the purposes of this tutorial, I will teach you how to integrate a free
GetResponse account with a Weebly web site.

PHASE 4 -- You need 2 WEB PAGES and at least 1 DOMAIN NAME, &
PAYMENT processing
DOMAIN NAME:
You need at least one domain name. This is absolutely the one area you DON’T
want to cheap out on!! Having a domain name like:
“mybiznez.scruffylookingfreewebpage.com”
makes you look unprofessional (and probably spammy) to your potential
customers and business contacts. If you don’t believe in yourself enough to
believe you can make enough money to pay an annual fee of under $10 for your
domain name, then you need to work on your self-confidence a bit more before
you attempt to start a business online.
You can buy a .com domain name cheaply from Creative Communications
Online, for $8.79 per year (as of this writing):
http://www.creativecommunicationsonline.com/
You can also sign up for a free account on GoDaddy.com and look for their
newsletters in your email inbox. They frequently have sales on domain names,
up to 25% off or more. Also, check out Tucows.com and Register.com for
deals.
HOSTING & A WEB SITE:
Don’t sign up for hosting just yet. I found a free service that combines both
your web design and hosting, for free, and you get 2 pages and 50MB of storage.
Just starting out, that’s all you need right now.
I found several good web design programs online you should investigate:
Blinkweb.com has a wonderful drag-and-drop program that is designed
specifically with internet marketers in mind, so it comes fully loaded with sales
page templates you might not find in other web design programs. You can even
save your design to your computer, and upload it to another web hosting service
if you don’t wish to subscribe to Blinkweb’s hosting service:
http://tinyurl.com/TryBlinkwebFREE
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
11
Synthasite.com and Weebly.com are similar drag-and-drop web design
programs like Blinkweb. However, both Synthasite and Weebly offer a basic,
free account you can use to create a simple web site. You can upgrade your
account (for a monthly subscription fee) later on if you want to add more web
sites or larger files to your site(s).
For the purpose of this report, I will tell you how to set up your business using
Weebly.com. Weebly’s free account allows you 50MB of storage and 2 web
sites, which is all you need for this simple business model.
Go to Weebly.com and sign up for a free account:
http://www.weebly.com
Log in to your account and click on the button to Create a Site. Scroll through the
available templates and pick one you like. Unlike Blinkweb, none of the Weebly
templates (at least for the free account) have a banner-free top, so pick a banner
that enhances what you want to say about your free report, or at least won’t clash
too badly.
This site is going to be your lead capture page, also known as a landing page or
squeeze page. On the lead capture page, you want to tell the potential customer
a bit about your free report, so that they will want to sign up for your newsletter in
order to get a free copy.
My web site at http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com is a lead capture
page. Use a large (but not too large) font for your title. Drag and drop a title box
from the toolbar onto your page and type in your headline. Use a headline such
as “Who else wants to ____?”; or “Let a ______ show you how to ____”; or
“What if you could_________?”
The headline should create interest so the reader will continue to read on.
Nevertheless, most people only look at a web site for about 7 seconds before
moving on.
To hedge your bets, make sure you put your opt-in form from your autoresponder
account right below your headline. That way, it will appear on the page,
complete, without the viewer having to scroll down to find it.
If you plan to promote your business on JV Giveaway sites (which I highly
recommend doing) keep in mind your squeeze page is one of many, and the
viewer is in a hurry, so they don’t want to have to scroll and scroll and scroll to
find your form. Most JV members will click onto your site, fill in the form, click
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
12
submit and go on to the next one -- fast. Don’t make it hard for them to do this
quickly.
After you put in your title, drag and drop a Custom HTML object to your page,
just below your title. Now go back to your autoresponder account and get the
HTML code for your opt-in form.
I use GetResponse, so if you have a GetResponse account, just log in, then go
to your Control Panel, click on the Edit Capture Form to the right of the Capture
Subscribers heading, and then click Start Capturing to put in the information for
your opt-in form. You’ll notice that the free account doesn’t let you put in any
extra features so just select “No thanks. I won't use custom fields in my form” and
then click Next Step. This takes you to a page with the heading HTML Form
Wizard - STEP 1 / 2.
In the box appears the HTML code you want to paste in your HTML object on
Weebly. Highlight the code in the box (between <!-- GetResponse subscription
form | start --> and <!-- GetResponse subscription form | end --> ) and click
Copy, then go back to Weebly.com, to your web page that you’re editing.
Click on your HTML box where it says “Click to set custom HTML”. A new tool
bar appears called “Element Options”. Click on “Edit Custom HTML” and then
paste the code you got from GetResponse in your HTML box. Wait a minute for
it to refresh, and it will show the optin form with the button, the way it will appear
on your web site. Cool! ☺
In order to save your changes to your web site click on the Publish button. It will
pop up a box that has a link you can click on to preview what your site looks like
now.
Add a text box with a title to the left of your opt-in form and put in a short
paragraph describing a few of the benefits of the information in your report.
Click Publish after you make changes and view your page until it looks about the
way you want it to look.
Click “Close” (the red button in the top right area of the screen) to go back to your
account and create another site.
The second web site can be assigned another domain name, but it should be
related to the topic of your first web site.
Although Weebly lets you add subdomains to each site, it automatically creates
a link to the home page for each subdomain. You don’t want to use this feature
for your download page, because you don’t want the download to be accessible
to anyone who didn’t sign up for your email service first.
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
13
On the second site, you can go ahead and use the weebly free domain name if
you wish. Scramble the title a bit so it isn’t easily found by Google-searching. For
example, if you have a main web site called “MakeMoneySnorkeling.com” then
you
could
call
your
download
page
something
like
“snorkelmeistersstashofgold.weebly.com” or something like that. You want
people to get the report by signing up for your newsletter, not by seaching with
Google until they stumble across your download page by accident.
Add a note at the top thanking your subscribers for joining up, and telling them to
scroll down to get their download.
Remind them that they need Adobe Acrobat to open the file, and give them the
link to www.adobe.com so that they can download the free program if they need
it.
Remind them also that by signing up for your newsletter they may receive emails
that are commercial in nature, but that they can unsubscribe at any time through
the Unsubscribe link included in every email (GetResponse and iContact both
include these; it is necessary to have this link in every email to be compliant with
the CAN-SPAM Act, which you absolutely do NOT want to violate!!)
Before you add your free report to this page, you want to add your sales letter for
your premium product.
If you purchased a product with Master Resale Rights, try to copy and paste the
sales letter that came with your master resale rights eBook into a text box on
Weebly. If this doesn’t work, try printing out the sales page and just type it in to a
text box and format the font the way you wish.
PAYMENT PROCESSING:
Sign up for a free account with Paydotcom.com or Tradebit.com. Upload your
master resale rights product to their site. Now return to the Weebly editor. At the
end of your sales letter, type “Click Here To Purchase This Product,”or “Buy
Now” – something like that. Highlight this text, and the tool bar with your font
options should appear. Click on the icon with the chain link on it, and put in the
URL (web address) of the page where your product appears on Tradebit, so the
customer can continue with their purchase. If you are upselling an affiliate
program, make sure you use your affiliate link to the web page where the product
is sold. Use a FREE link cloaking service like Addme.com to protect your
affiliate commissions:
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
14
http://www.addme.com/linkcloaker.htm
Below the sales letter, add your free report. You can do this from Weebly’s menu
on the top left corner, below the Weebly Editor logo. Pick Multimedia. Click and
drag the File icon from the toolbar on the Multimedia menu bar and drag it down,
placing it below your sales letter.
A new toolbar appears, and you can click the link to upload your file from your
computer to your Weebly page. When you’re done, an Adobe Acrobat symbol
will appear on your page with a download link for your subscribers. Try to name
your file something not easily located in a Google search. You can scramble the
name a bit like this (continuing with our snorkeling example):
3322snork_mk_mony555.pdf
That should be an adequate disguise. You don’t want your file name to be a
hundred characters long, but you do want to make it hard to find by anyone who
didn’t subscrib to your email list.
Click Publish and view your web page. Go back and make any adjustments you
need to make.
If you have problems using the Weebly editor, then you might be on a public
computer with a firewall, or you might have a firewall on your home computer that
would have to be disabled before it will let you upload a file to your site. Just
remember to re-enable it after you finish.
I’m not a very techie person myself, but if you have problems doing this, click on
the Help link at the top of your Weebly editor page, and you can submit a tech
support request that way. That is what I always do.
At this point, if you’re still struggling with Weebly, there are some free video
tutorials located on the following blog, as of this writing:
http://www.recognizedexpert.com/weebly/
If you’re struggling with your GetResponse account, review their video tutorial
series here:
http://www.getresponse.com/ModStatic/Tutorials/
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
15
PHASE 5 -- You need to edit your 1st Email Campaign from your
AUTORESPONDER account
Once both your sites are finished, you will be ready to create your first email
campaign. GetResponse’s free account service allows you one free campaign
of up to 5 messages.
Your first message will be a thank you note to your subscribers, that
GetResponse will ask you if you want to customize. Just add a sentence
thanking them for requesting your free report, and that as a bonus they will
continue to receive your email notices, which they can unsubscribe at any time.
There is a link in this first email that subscribers have to click on to be subscribed
to your list. It is a verification system called “double opt-in” that guards against
spammers signing people up for email subscriptions without their permission.
Remember, we are permission-based marketers – not spammers!
Your second email will contain the link to your download page
(snorkelmeistersstashofgold.weebly.com or whatever you named your site)
and thank your customers again for joining your list.
In GetResponse, just go to your Control Panel, click on Manage Campaigns to
create and edit your 1st email series.
Make sure you use the testing services provided by your GetResponse account,
so you can see what your emails will look like on the receiving end. Make sure
they look professional and include links that work. Fix any problems with this
BEFORE you start promoting your web site!!
http://www.homebusinessfromscratch.com
16
CONCLUSION
This tutorial has shown you how to set up a “bare bones” mini web site that you
can use to make money with a simple infoproduct marketing system. If you use
the following services, you can set up this entire business model for under $10 in
about a day (*depending on how long it takes you to decide on your product
offerings):
FREE web site and hosting through Weebly.com
FREE autoresponder service through GetResponse.com
FREE re-brandable eBook with giveaway rights through
ViralEBookExplosion.com
FREE link cloaker through Addme.com
… and if you decide to promote a product through an affiliate program instead
of purchasing your own product with Master Resell Rights….
… then your only expense will be your DOMAIN NAME, and that is going to cost
you just under $10 a year.
For those of you who are still tempted to do it all for free and use the scruffylooking free domain name with Weebly: keep in mind that you are being noncommittal. If you want to commit to a business and make it a success, a small
sacrifice of money on your part will help to propel you forward to make sure it
succeeds. There’s nothing like knowing you’re paying for a service to make you
more motivated to actually USE it (except, of course, in the well-known case of
gym memberships, but let’s not go there…).
Taking an action that shows you are serious about your business will
psychologically give you the boost you need to move forward with your plan. It
will also communicate to others that you are serious about your business. You
will find it easier to connect with joint venture partners when you show you are as
serious about your business as they are about theirs. You’ll have a greater sense
of belonging to a community of entrepreneurs, which is a really big perk in this
business (in addition to the income potential).
Good luck with your first web site. I wish you JOY!
