Sex Offender Registries & Criminal Case Search Web Sites
Maryland Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development, utilizes various Sex Offender Registries and the MD Case
Search Registry as tools in the screening process for new and current volunteers. Before each new group of volunteers is
trained, the sights should be checked. All the information is accessible to the public. Below is the sex offender registry
information for the national Department of Justice site, the states bordering Maryland, and the MD Case Search Website.
1. U.S. Department of Justice: Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Web
Site - www.nsopw.gov
This Web site is provided as a public service by the U.S. Department of Justice. Using this Web site,
interested members of the public have access to and may search participating state Web site public
information regarding the presence or location of offenders, who, in most cases, have been convicted of
sexually-violent offenses against adults and children and certain sexual contact and other crimes against
victims who are minors. The public can use this Web site to educate themselves about the possible presence
of such offenders in their local communities.

2. Maryland State Sex Offender Registry – http://www.socem.info/
SOCEM – Sex Offender Compliance and Enforcement in Maryland
On this site you will be able to find sex offenders living near you, track sex offenders’ movements
(select SOCEM Search button below), provide law enforcement with tips to help find offenders,
get assistance if your child is the victim of sexual abuse (select Community Protection button below), and help find
abducted children through the use of an enhanced cell phone AMBER Alert system (select Enhanced Amber Alert button
below). By calling Maryland's toll-free Sex Offender Alert Line at 1-866-559-8017, you can sign up for telephone
notification any time a registered sex offender moves in your area. The Alert Line is designed to contact individual homes,
schools, daycare centers, recreational centers and churches registered by zip code when a sex offender moves into the
neighborhood or if there is a change in the offender's compliance status.

You can search by name, county, city, municipality, zip and alias. Must click on each name to view photo and
details
5. State of Virginia Sex Offender Registry - http://sex-offender.vsp.virginia.gov/sor/
You can search by name, address, county, zip or city. List with pictures appears. Click on link for additional
details and map of offender’s location.
6. State of West Virginia - http://www.wvstatepolice.com/sexoff/
You can search by name, address or county for list of offenders. Click on each name for details.
