The Gatesville Police Department in conjunction with the Texas Narcotic Officer’s Association
(TNOA) Central Region will offer a Criminal Interdiction Course at the Gatesville Civic Center on April
22-23, 2015 from 8:00AM-5:00PM. This course is offered to TECOLE peace officers ONLY. Officers
attending this course will be eligible to attend the Advanced Vehicle Search Technique Course.
Course will include the following topics;
*The importation of drugs into the United States
*Basics of criminal interdiction
*Identifying a drug courier
*Commonly used vehicles utilized by traffickers
*Disclaimers
*Kinesics / Roadside interviews
*Consent / Non-consent vehicle search
*Methods of searching
*Processing evidence
*Obtaining paper evidence and what to do with it when discovered
Instructor: Sergeant Gary Haston (Williamson County Texas Sheriff’s Office)
Sergeant Haston has been in law enforcement for twenty two (22) years working in the field of narcotics including assignments to the
Capitol Area Narcotics Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Austin Resident Office and the Williamson County
Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Division. Sergeant Haston has investigated hundred’s of narcotic crimes including undercover narcotic
enforcement as well as hotel / bus / train and criminal highway interdiction. Sergeant Haston has been an instructor for the Office of the
Governor-Texas Narcotic Control Program, the Regional Counter-Drug Training Academy in Meridian, Mississippi, the Capital Area
Police Training Academy in Austin, Texas and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Sergeant Haston was the 2011-2012 President of
the Texas Narcotic Officers Association.
Course is FREE to current TNOA members. $40.00 for non-members.
