Duphaston (Dydrogesterone) for the treatment of endometriosis
Duphaston is made by Solvay Healthcare Limited.
What is Duphaston?
Duphaston is a synthetic (artificial) progestogen and is similar to the progesterone produced naturally by the ovaries.
Duphaston can also be used in the treatment of:
Abnormal uterine bleeding
Pre-Menstrual Syndrome
Infertility
Threatened miscarriage
Painful periods
Absence of periods
How Duphaston works:
The precise action of Duphaston is not fully understood, so is difficult to
explain. Duphaston reduces the normal build-up of the uterus lining by
oestrogen during the monthly cycle. This action also stops the build-up
of endometriosis in other sites.
Endometriosis SHE Trust (UK) is a Registered Charity No: 1076843 Co. Ltd. By Guarantee No: 3739863

Administration and dosage of Duphaston:
Reaction of Duphaston with food/alcohol/drugs:
Duphaston comes in tablet form in a strength of 10mgs and is taken
one, two or three times daily from day five to day twenty-five of the cycle.

Duphaston is not suitable for the treatment of children.

and ask for advice.
