Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED), prefer Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Sports
Management, Parks and Recreation, Business Management or a related field. Prefer individual with
at least one year of ice rink facility management experience along with experience supervising others.
Mechanical aptitude is required. Experience operating a Zamboni ice resurfacing machine is a plus
but not required. Other Qualifications: Must possess strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational,
communication and customer service skills. Must possess a strong attention to detail to ensure facility
is operating to the District’s standards. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pass a pre-employment
physical, drug test, Illinois Drivers’ License record check and criminal background check.
DUTIES:
The Skatium Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Skatium Facility Manager with the overall day
to day operations of the Skatium Ice Arena. Duties include interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating
and supervising assigned part-time staff which include cashiers, skate guards, office staff, building
supervisors and other part-time staff. Reviews and approves payroll for assigned staff. Assists the
Facility Manager with the supervision of the full-time Custodial Supervisor. Regularly inspects facility
to ensure that the facility is meeting the District’s safety and cleanliness standards; takes corrective
actions when needed. Assists with special event development, facility ice scheduling and facility
maintenance projects. Maintains ice surfaces to established standards and performs ice resurfacing
duties as required. Assists with Zamboni repair, and Zamboni maintenance. Plans and participates in
facility preventative maintenance, ongoing maintenance and schedules maintenance of equipment
with outside vendors as required. Responsible for maintaining the MSDS binder. Serves as a
member of the District’s Safety Committee as requested by the Skatium Manager and participates in
other District committees as requested. This position is on call for building emergencies 24/7.
Hours: This position works a variety of hours that may include weekday, evening and weekend hours.
