Course description
Today’s Japanese economy has faced various issues, including the economic policy of Abenomics,
financial reconstruction, population decline and social security reform. The same can be said for the
world economy. This course looks at the latest economic issues now in progress to show how
interesting it is to observe a dynamically changing economy.
Course objectives
Issues that the Japanese economy and world economy have faced (I)
Based on the latest data, students consider the various issues that today’s Japanese economy and
world economy have to cope with.
The goals to be achieved are: (1) For students to gain basic knowledge of the current situations of the
Japanese and world economy; (2) For students to have their own views about what economic policy
should be implemented; (3) For students to understand the actual situation of the economy by using
basic economics tools.
