PICKUPS AND ELECTRONICS
MPB2-918
Magnetic & Piezo Pickup Dual Buffer/Preamp for +9 volt or +18 volt operation
The MPB2-918 provides 2 independent buffers for use in instruments with magnetic and piezo
pickups. The sound is extremely clear and transparent. Distortion is well below 0.001%. The
MPB2-918 features adjustable gain for the magnetic channel which allows you to boost the input
signal up to 12dB while maintaining flat frequency response.
This preamp can be used with either a single 9 volt battery (9 volt operation) or two 9 volt
batteries wired in series (18 volt operation) for 6dB extra headroom with no tonal change.

A 25K MN Taper blend is ideal. A 250K blend can be used, but may
be noisier. Note that MN and AC tapers are wired in reverse.

The MPB2-918 is ideal for providing excellent tone from an instrument with 2 magnetic pickups
and a piezo bridge pickup. This diagram shows how to connect an MPB2-918 to an NTMB+ 3-band
EQ in order blend both magnetic pickups and piezo pickup with on-board frequency control.

Ground – Connected to
preinstalled bare wire.
Connect to cavity shield if
available. Also ensure
bridge is connected to
ground.
The negative side of the battery(ies) should be connected to the jack ring so that power is turned
on only when the plug is in. Unplug the instrument when not in use to conserve your battery.
DO NOT USE MORE THAN 18 VOLT SUPPLY VOLTAGE OR EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLIES
