Detect Deeper with the Sovereign Amplifier For the Minelab Sovereign (All Models) With the never ending quest to detect deeper, the only options were try a larger coil or spend thousands on the latest and greatest new detector. For Minelab Sovereign owners there is now a new option to detect deeper. The Sovereign Amplifier will provide the extra depth previously unavailable by any means. After two years of testing and development the Sovereign Amplifier in now ready. The Sovereign Amplifier is a battery powered amplifier that takes the normal signal that the detector puts out and amplifies it to a higher voltage to drive the coil. This will create a larger magnetic field around the coil to penetrate deeper into the ground. The amplifier will enable your Sovereign to detect objects 3-4 inches deeper than normal. The amplifier has an adjustable power setting to vary the power to the coil. It has a power button to turn the Amp on/off. When the amp is off the detector works as normal with no loss of depth and it does not require the external battery. There is a power indicator that lights when ever the amplifier power button is depressed. The power light will only come on only when the external battery is connected and the detector is connected and turned on. The Amplifier comes with a 2.2 Amp hour Li-Ion Battery that last 12 hours on the maximum power setting. The battery is housed in a plastic box with a belt clip. There is a stretchable cord that connects the battery box to the amp while the box is mounted to your belt. The Amp also comes with a Li-Ion battery charger that will charge the battery in approximately 6 hours. The battery charger connects to the battery box cable, there is no need to remove the battery for charging. The charger works from 100VAC to 240VAC input. The Amp mounts to the detector shaft with two re-usable plastic mounting straps. It can be used with meters and probes, just connect the meter or probe between the Amplifier and the Detector. The Amplifier comes with a 1 year warranty Amplifier: The Amplifier is a custom designed circuit that uses the latest in switching power supply technology. It will duplicate the coil drive signal from the detector with high precision. The signal strength is adjustable for various ground conditions. This larger signal will create a larger more powerful magnetic field around the coil to detect deeper. The Amp can be powered off with the convenient power switch. The Amp, when powered off and the battery disconnected, will enable the Detector function normally with no loss of depth while the Amp is connected. Battery: 2.2 Amp Hour Li-Ion Battery. This is the latest technology in batteries and will last over 12 hours on a single charge. Made of three 2200mAh cylindrical 18650 cells with PCB and poly switch for full protection. It is light weight and higher energy density than any other type of rechargeable battery. It has Longer storage life than NiMH batteries. It has a built-in IC chip will prevent battery pack from over charge and over discharge and prolongs battery life. Charger: The Amp comes with a TLP-2000 Universal Smart Charger for Li-Ion Batteries. It runs from 100V - 240V AC input for worldwide power usage. It has 4 Voltage selections at 3.7v 7.4v 11.1v and 14.8v. It needs to be in the 11.1V position to charge the Amplifier Battery. It has a LED indicator: Red means "In Charging" and Green means "Full" or "open circuits". Box/Cables: The circuitry is housed in a sealed black PVC box. The box will keep out dust, sand, and light moisture but is not waterproof. The cables use the highest quality connectors and and have durable strain reliefs at all connection points. The Battery Box comes with a belt clip to conveniently and comfortably mount on a belt or pocket so that it is out of the way while swinging and bending. The stretchable battery cord will not interfere with your swing and will stretch enough that the detector can be put down while digging if needed. Meters/Probes: Meters and Probes can be used with the Amp. The need to be connected inline between the Amp and Detector. Meters may read slightly different when the Amp is powered on. Warranty: The Sovereign Amplifer and Its components come with a 1 year warranty. Coil Limitations: The Amplifier cannot be used with Detech Concentric Coils. $299 plus shipping Buy Now! 1. I have used the sovereign amp shown above. The increase in depth really is as stated. And it's stable. Also there is an increase in sensitivity making it easier to pick up gold chains and other small gold targets. Bob 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8v0lBff1lU PP/AM mode on excalibur only, What you are doing is separating target from threshold. When you turn down the threshold on the excalibur, at the point of just audible, the threshold is still covering up targets...once you lower the threshold to it's lowest point, these targets are uncovered and the amp allows them to be heard. The threshold of the excalibur does not stop, like falling off a table..it's a gradual slope. The Amp allows you to hear the full extent of the threshold, along with the targets it has covered. And to all fairness to the Df, only my second time out with it, but have done several run in compares with different hunters over the past couple years at several different beachs in the US and only detector that can match the Amped excalibur on small deep targets is the infinium....Shaun's Amp for sovereign, no schematic for it and cannot be copied... http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.p...,375221.0.html 1. Of course there was a "coil booster" made some 20 or so years ago. I have one that the paper work says is for a White's series 2 or 3. It is about the size of 2 packs of cigaretts and has a clip to attach to pole with a connector for coil cable and a pigtail to plug into the detector electronics box. Uses a 9v battery for power and claims the battery lasts for 75 hours. This "booster" was purchased Feburary 1990 and is new. I don't remember if I ever tried it or not. The "instructions do not say if it boosts TX or RX or both. It and models for other detectors were made by Dayton Electronics. (Carl, surely you were detecting in 1990.) I also have 2 models of the "Depth Master" audio booster/limiter which are for the audio only. They work as the mfg claims. I will supply a picture of the Coil Booster to someone who will post it in this thread. Maybe this will answer some questions. Ty Brooks Hi Folks... Was just reading through this thread and noticed there was no additional postings in the last year after discussions on wether there is a schematic circuit drawing available. Has anyone come up with one?? Besides the product mentioned George Payne had one available for his old Mark I Teknetics line. They were made by Dayton Electronics I believe as someone else mentioned here. Was this the same type circuit design as Minelabs???? Lets open this topic up again guys. Does anyone know George and can ask him for the circuit drawing? As a side note I manufactured a product at the same time as the depthmaster that had variable boost and optional LED BAR visual meter. It was strickly an audio amp with high signal limiting. A audio compressor of sorts. Plugged into the detector earphone plug and ran off an external 1.5 volt battery. I will try to locate the drawings for those products for post here. Turtlebowl I found the drawings and will attempt to upload them now. Besides the standard circuit shown here we also producted one with 3 different levels of amplification, as well as one with a 10 segment LED bar graph which measured intensity of the original signal (helpful for night hunting and depth reading). I can't find the triple boost drawing. But have the LED version , I'll need to clean up the drawing alittle before scanning it. Maybe next week?? I've never tryed the pix upload here yet so my fingers are crossed......which makes it all the harder to do it! hehehehahaha........here goes with the version one upload. Turtlebowl So did anyone produce or upload any of the devices schematics described here in this document? No, they did not. Will I produce or post a schematic of my unit? No, I will not either. No one really believes me anyway. The only ones that believe me are those that are detecting near me and come over when they see me digging up targets. If I sold my unit, I probably could not find the parts I used to build it back then. So I will just keep it and give it to my son that loves to metal detect like myself. Melbeta
