non-contact AC voltage detector
Datasheet
iVolt
Description
The Socket & See iVolt non-contact voltage detector is intended to check for the presence of AC voltage,
signalled by a bright red LED situated within the white tip of the unit and an audible buzzer.
Features
• Non-contact detection of AC Voltage 90V - 600V AC 50Hz/60Hz
• Visual and audible warning of voltage
• Super bright red LED flashlight built into unit
The iVolt is useful for identifying live conductors, finding a break in a wire, verifying a blown fuse while in
circuit, and detecting the presence of AC voltage at:
• Socket outlets
• Switches
• Circuit breakers
• Fuses
• Wires and cables
• Luminaires
Good Practice
Before each use, the unit must be tested on a known live supply.
Place the probe tip on or near the circuit under test. The probe tip will glow bright red and the buzzer will
sound when an AC voltage between 90V and 600V is detected.
If the unit still fails to operate satisfactorily, return for repair.
If the unit does not function as expected, replace the batteries.
Note: The iVolt cannot detect voltage on armoured or sheathed cable, or on cable in conduit, behind panels
or in metallic enclosures.
Flashlight
Operate the black button alternately to turn the white LED ON and OFF.
Battery Replacement
• Remove the unit from proximity of any live circuits
• Turn off the flashlight
• Remove battery cap (1) by lifting clip (2) slightly and pulling cap (1) off body (3)
• Replace batteries, carefully observing correct type and polarity
• Replace battery cap (1)
