Integrated
RF Transceiver and
Microcontroller
The industry’s first truly complete RF System-onChip solution! On a single die, the award winning
300 to 1000 MHz CMOS CC1000 RF Transceiver
has been integrated with an industry standard
8051 microcontroller core.
A true System-on-Chip (SoC) solution
The CC1010 integrates a very low-power 300 to 1000 MHz RF
transceiver and a 8051-compatible microcontroller that has 32 kB
in-system programmable Flash, hardware DES encryption/
decryption and a three channel 10-bit ADC. This means only a few
external passive components are necessary to make a powerful
embedded system with wireless communication capabilities,
sensor interfacing possibilities and a lot of processing power.
The CC1010 is designed primarily for FSK systems in the
ISM/SRD bands at 315, 433, 868, and 915 MHz, but can easily be
programmed for operation at other frequencies between 300
and 1000 MHz.
The CC1010 provides tight integration between the MCU core
and the RF transceiver, making this System-on-Chip solution
very easy to use and accelerating the time-to-market for
your product.
An unbeatable combination of features
The CC1010 is based on Chipcon’s proprietary SmartRF®02 tech-
nology. Like the other members of the SmartRF®02 family, the
CC1010 offers an unbeatable combination of features such as low
power, low cost, high performance and flexibility.
Ideal for battery applications
When battery life, processing power, programming flexibility and
miniaturisation are major design concerns, the CC1010 is the
ideal choice. RF performance has not been compromised.
Performance is comparable to the stand-alone CC1000
RF Transceiver, providing you with the ultimate solution for
virtually any battery powered application.
• Home automation
• Remote keyless entry
• Automatic meter reading
• Wireless alarm and security systems
• Game controllers and electronic toys
• 315/433/868/915 MHz SRD band systems
features:
Fully integrated UHF RF transceiver
• Programmable frequency range (300 – 1000 MHz)
• High sensitivity (typically -107 dBm at 1.2. kbit/s)
• Programmable output power (–20 to 10 dBm)
• Very low current consumption (RX: 9.1 mA)
• Very few external components, no external
RF switch, or IF filter required
• Fast PLL settling allows frequency hopping protocols
• FSK modulation with a data rate of up to 76.8 kbit/s
• Manchester or NRZ coding and decoding of data
performed in hardware. Byte delineation of data
can be performed in hardware to reduce the
processor burden.
• RSSI output which can be sampled by on-chip ADC
• Complies with EN 300 220 and FCC CFR47 part 15
Block diagram
High performance, 24 MHz, low power,
8051-compatible microcontroller
• Optimised 8051-core typically gives 2.5x the
performance of a standard 8051
• Dual data pointers
• Idle and sleep modes
• In-circuit interactive debugging is supported for the
Keil™ µVision IDE through a simple serial interface
Data and non-volatile program memory
• 32 kB of non-volatile Flash memory in-system
programmable through a simple SPI interface or
by the 8051 core
• Typical Flash endurance: 20 000 write/erase cycles
• Programmable read and write lock of portions
of Flash memory for software security
• 2048 + 128 Byte of internal SRAM
