Troubleshooting:
TJ Beary Tales loves to share his stories with his friends! As he comes to life, TJ
sparks curiosity and wonder in children and helps them understand key schoolreadiness and life skills. We’ve made it easy to interact with him. All these
wonderful adventures can be accessed by activating the capability switches that
are mounted to the base mold. Two jacks are located on the side for using your
own capability switches if your child cannot access the mounted ones. Size: 14
½" H x 11"W x 17"D. Requires: 4 D Batteries.
Action #2: Replace all batteries with fresh new batteries. Never mix different
brands or old and new batteries.
Operation:
Problem: One of T.J.’s built in switches does not works or is inconsistent.
1. T.J. requires 4 D batteries (Not included). Use alkaline batteries only (e.g.
Duracell or Energizer brand). Do not use rechargeable batteries or any other
type of batteries because they supply lower voltage and the unit will not
perform properly. Never mix old and new batteries together or different
brands or types together.
Action: Check that no debris or small objects are blocking or obstruction any of
the buttons on the base.
2. The battery compartment is located under T.J.’s base. Carefully turn the
unit over to reveal battery compartment. Locate and remove the orange
battery cover plate secured with Velcro, by lifting it up. Once the plate has
been removed, loosen the two screws at the top and bottom of the door.
Install new batteries, being careful to observe proper (+) & (-) battery
polarity. Replace cover and screws. Set the ON/OFF/Volume control switch
located on T.J.’s Backpack to the desired volume setting.
3. All these wonderful adventures can be accessed by slightly touching the
green paw, blue paw and two yellow cap switches on an orange base mold.
There are two jacks on the side that will activate the two main paw switches.
The two yellow switches allow the user to advance or go back to a page in
the story or an activity.
4. When using external switches, make sure you have a flush connection with
no gaps between the jacks and the switch plugs.
5. When one story’s done, and they want to hear another. That’s easy to do;
just change the cartridge in the back. T.J comes with “My Big Birthday
Surprise” Other stories can be purchased separately. Like item No.3803X
(Scaredy Bear of the Dark w/flashlight), No.3803Y (Super T.J. to the
Rescue! Story), No.3803Z (Tale of the Cave Bear- Story).
Problem: T.J. does not work.
Action #1: Check all batteries for proper (+) & (-) battery polarity.
Problem: T.J. does no work with external switches.
Action#1: Make sure that you have a tight connection between the external
switches and the jacks. There should be no gaps.
Action#2: Try your external capability switches with another toy/device to rule
out the switches as the source of the problem.
Care of Unit:
T.J. is surface washable only. His plastic base can be wiped clean with any
household multi-purpose cleaner and disinfectant. We recommend Simple
Green, which is a non toxic biodegradable all-purpose cleaner.
When finished playing with the T.J. turn the ON/OFF/Volume switch to OFF to
help prevent battery drain. Please Note: For prolong periods of storage we
recommend removing the batteries inT.J.
Do not submerge the unit, as it will damage the contents and the electrical
components.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they will scratch the surface of the unit.
