perennial, subshrub - somewhat drought deciduous.
To 3' high.
Sparse, narrow, 3-part leaves along stiff stems.
Flowers pea-shape, yellow with touch of red - March to August.
Native habitat: coastal sage scrub, chaparral, coastal strand dry slopes, flats, washes and roadsides (especially after fire)
below 5000' - Baja California to Humboldt County).
Full sun.
Good drainage.
More attractive with some water, but shorter-lived.
Good for stabilizing soil and restoring degraded areas.
Nice draping over rock walls. Attracts hummingbirds and insects pollinators.
