Obituary for Joseph R. Floriddia Joseph R. Floriddia, 74, of Boxford, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday September 4, 2014. Joseph was born on July 15, 1940 in Lawrence, MA and was the son of Joseph (Gene) and Lucille (DiLonardo) Floriddia. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958, and continued his education at the Wentworth Institute in Boston. Shortly after, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy where he trained as a Medical Corpsman and served at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago IL. Upon his return from the military, Joseph worked at Western Electric in North Andover, MA before starting a long and rewarding career with Raytheon Company as a Sr. Engineer for 47 years. Mr. Floriddia was also the owner and operator of Columbia Cleaning Service in which he had numerous accounts in the Merrimack Valley and surrounding communities. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed traveling with his wife to Maine, Florida, touring Italy, the Caribbean Islands and his favorite destination, Bermuda. He loved playing tennis with his son and daughter. For relaxation, he enjoyed going fishing and was most content when he was at home enjoying Sunday dinner with his family. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Ida of 50 years. In addition, he leaves his children, Jeffery S. Floriddia of Boxford, Lisa A. Sullivan and her husband Walter of Billerica, and Maureen G. Floriddia of Belmont. He also leaves his brother, Dr. Donald G. Floriddia of Stockton, CA, his brother-in-law Raymond Leotta and wife Peggy of Salisbury, MA and his beloved Aunt, Mary Viti of Salisbury, MA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home 126 Pleasant Valley St. Methuen. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Michael’s Church 196 Main St. North Andover. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Joseph’s name to the American Heart Association www.americanheart.org.
