Discola DISCOLA, Patricia J. Patricia Joanne Discola, 76, of Venice, FL and formerly of East Haddam, beloved wife of James, joined the Lord in Heaven after a long bout with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Cancer on Monday (January 21, 2008), surrounded by her loving family. Born May 13, 1931 in Tulsa, OK, she was a daughter of the late Franklin and Mildred (Fields) Warren. On April 6 and 8, 1951, Patti and Jim were married in Toyko, Japan, where she attended high school. She would go on to study at UCLA and then Nursing at Hartford Hospital. Mrs. Discola was a Respiratory Therapist for the Connecticut VA Hospital for 23 years before her retirement in 1982. Following Jim's retirement in 1983, they traveled through all 50 states, as well as Canada's 10 provinces and two territories and also throughout Mexico. In 2000, they moved to Venice because of her illnesses. In addition to her loving husband of nearly 57 years, she leaves six children, 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister and brother; and numerous extended family and friends. Friends may call 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday directly at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 31 East Main St. (Rte. 149), East Haddam. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Norwich. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Church. Published in the Hartford Courant on 1/24/2008.
