Princess Flower features showy deep purple round flowers at the ends
of the branches from early spring to late fall. The flowers are excellent for
cutting. It has attractive dark green foliage which emerges light green in
spring. The fuzzy pointy leaves are ornamentally significant but remain
dark green through the winter. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.
The bark is not particularly outstanding.
Landscape Attributes:
Princess Flower is an open multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its
average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or
shrubs for an effective composition.
This shrub will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and is best pruned in late winter once the
threat of extreme cold has passed. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies to your yard. It has no
significant negative characteristics.
Princess Flower is recommended for the following landscape applications;
- General Garden Use
- Mass Planting
- Hedges/Screening
- Container Planting
Plant Characteristics:
Princess Flower will grow to be about 15 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 15 feet. It has a low canopy
with a typical clearance of 2 feet from the ground, and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows
at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 40 years or more.

This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and
shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is
somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone in winter to
protect it in exposed locations or colder zones. This plant can be propagated by seed.
This species is not originally from North America.
This plant is not reliably hardy in our region, and certain restrictions may apply; contact the store for more
information.
