soil: sand or sloping rock surfaces
Notes: Also called Kinnikinnick. A spreading,
evergreen shrub that makes a great groundcover
in sandy, acidic soils. Attracts bees, butterflies,
and birds. Avoid soil compaction and fertilization
around bearberry. This selection has smaller leaves
than the species, flowers and fruits abundantly, and
is more disease-resistant.
