JMSK ROOM MANAGEMENT APPLICATION
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Room Management System is custom web application software which intended to bring
paperless environment in room/lab arrangement. The app is developed by Microsoft tools such
as Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server and a number of graphic editing programs. It runs on IIS only
as it takes many advantages of .NET framework. This web is also available at
http://www.politeknik.edu.my/demo_azlan/index.aspx.
2.0 WORKFLOW
The main page of the web application, this web is developed with Visual Studio 2010 and the
database is stored in SQL Server 2008. Diagrams below shows workflows for both user and
administrator,

3.0 THE INTERFACE/USAGE
These are the room tabs, click on any of these tabs to view schedules or to make a booking. Direct
booking can only be made through the administrator via login. Normal user can only make a request
which will be attended by the admin
Click this button to enter verification; the profiles are stored in the database which can easily be
modified/add
When a normal user click on any room tabs they will be presented by the view as above, the picture
with the question mark symbol shows that the user is not logged in and has limited option in this
web app. The calendar (circle in blue) is a dynamic calendar, click on the arrows or other date and
the room schedule will change accordingly.
All the circle area are clickable..
The cell circled in red denotes a confirmed schedule, click on it and a pop-up will show details of the
schedule:
The green circle is a free cell, which allow the room to be booked/reserved when it is clicked
Once the user has fill in their request the record will be captured and displayed in the index.aspx
page as shown below:
Clicking the more buttons will revealed the request. The view for the admin and the normal user will
be different:
Normal user view
Admin view, click the scrollbar to see the remaining schedule
Click on the login button to administer this website
Enter admin for both the user name and the password. The button appearance will change as follow:
After login the view in each room tab will be as follow. Notice the changes in the icon
The admin can make booking right away without making a request
Click on the room tab again, and the view will be updated.
