Big Data Acceleration
OneAppliance™ FlashCube™
Ultra-High Bandwidth All-Flash Data Store
For Oracle and Oracle RAC Usage:
Flash Cache, TEMP, Preferred-Plex Mirror for Data
Accelerate your Big Data while leveraging existing infrastructure!
CHALLENGE – Solving Oracle performance
problems related to ETL, Join, and Flash Cache
SOLUTION – GridIron OneAppliance FlashCube:
The industry’s first ultra-high bandwidth read/
write unified data store
Data Mart, OLAP and Data Warehouses are proliferating with
the accelerating demand for extracting information from
raw data. The triple V’s of Big Data growth (Volume, Velocity
and Variety) put huge performance demand on Extract/
Transform/Load (ETL) and reporting cycles.
GridIron OneAppliance FlashCubes, part of the
OneAppliance suite of solutions for accelerating Big Data
analytics, are expandable, workload-optimized, all-flash data
storage appliances that provide up to 100 TB of flash storage
to demanding applications.
Performance of intermediate data stores to hold and serve
up data during intermediate processing stages have been a
HUGE bottleneck in regular database systems.
FlashCubes are engineered to provide unhindered read and
write bandwidth of over 10 GBps to accelerate workloads
such as TEMP/Log/ETL, Oracle Flash Cache, and Hadoop.
As servers get faster, the read/write demands on
the intermediate data stores (TEMP volumes) grow
exponentially and often dominate the reporting and data
ingestion stage delays in large-scale Oracle and Oracle RAC
systems.
Designed as a building block for linearly scaling I/O
performance of an existing storage environment,
FlashCubes are available with Fibre Channel interfaces
(SAN version) or 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces (iSCSI/NAS
version).
Traditional storage systems need to be severely overprovisioned to meet these performance requirements.
And SSD solutions (such as PCI-e SSD) or Flash Memory
Arrays (derived from direct-attach PCI-e systems) are 1/10th
the demands of concurrent bandwidth for even a single
node, multi-core database server. Similarly, these systems
are inadequate to meet the requirements of Oracle 11g
Database Smart Flash Cache, which expects flash systems to
read and write at the rate of many Gigabytes per second.
FlashCubes can be deployed standalone, or may be
combined with GridIron TurboChargers to accelerate your
existing infrastructure, providing a complete solution for the
high-bandwidth demands of Oracle RAC, Oracle Database
Smart Flash Cache, as well as an intermediate data store to
speed up ETL or join operations.
