GPS DATABASE DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS
1. Print out and read through the instructions.
2. Make sure your GPS unit and laptop computer meet the minimum requirements for Internet
download.

KLN 35A
KLN 90A
KLX 135A
KLN 89
KLN 90B
KLN 900
KLN 89B
KLN 94
KLN 90
KLX 100
You cannot use the GPS Database Loader program for diskette-based database
subscriptions.
COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: SOFTWARE
The GPS Database Loader is a 32-bit program, compatible with Microsoft Windows 95,
98, Millenium Edition (ME), NT versions 3.51 /4.0, 2000, XP or higher.
The Windows-based GPS Database Loader is a replacement for the DOS-based
NETLOAD.EXE program. (The old NETLOAD.EXE program will continue to be included
in download packages if you choose to use DOS.)
COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: HARDWARE
Make sure that your laptop computer has a 9 pin serial port. If it does not, please be sure
to have a USB to 9 pin serial port adapter. Please note not all USB to serial port
adapters work well. We recommend the Keyspan USB Model USA-19HS. More
information can be found at www.keyspan.com.
3. Install the GPS Database Loader Program. For details on how to download and install the
GPS Database Loader Program, please review the "GPS Database Loader Installation"
document found on the GPS Database Downloads web site under Related Documents
(Products & Services > GPS Database Downloads > Related Documents).
4. In order to download a database, you need a key number which is unique to your GPS. Turn
on your GPS unit and copy down the database key number found on the SET 0 or SET 3
pages. If the key number is not displayed on your GPS unit (as with the KLX 135A, KLN 90
and KLN 90A), you will need to use the GPS Database Loader program, "Key Reader Tool",
to read the database key from the unit. If your GPS unit does not display the database key
number, your GPS unit’s operating software may need to be updated. Do not try to download
a GPS database without a database key number.
5. Set up an account on the Bendix/King web site. Go to the Bendix/King web site and click on
Create an Account link found within the log-in box.

for download the message "Database is ready for download now" will appear. Click here
when prompted.
•
