The kit consists of an aluminum plate of 9 mm thick resting 3 feet whose design was
reviewed and optimized in order to ensure an even more effective decoupling. For the
record, the two rear feet are insulators while the sole forefoot plays the role of
mechanical earth. As in the past, the inverted U-shaped cover is made entirely of
aluminum and has an important role against all forms of pollution mechanical,
electromagnetic, or environmental (waves of various origins).
The player comes with a remote control beautiful plated aluminum invoice. In terms of
criticisms, the common remote control to the CD player and integrated amplifier or
preamplifier Passion is inconvenient to use: it is necessary to manually select and
systematically the equipment that is to be "drive". These double manipulations may
annoy after a while. In addition, this remote has no numeric keypad: This prohibits the
direct access to desired tracks - a nonsense to be corrected quickly.
For mechanics, YBA has chosen the famous model Philips CM Pro 2, the implementation
of which undergoes a specific treatment in terms of suspension and in the same spirit as
the legendary models of the brand. The CD loading is done from above and YBA insists
leave the door open during playback, to avoid static electricity that could, if necessary,
disrupting the proper playback.
For optimum analysis engraved signals, the principle of the second blue LED was taken
here, and if this LED is now fixed, it is important because it ensures better playback. From
experience, I can testify of an air addition and opening in the top of the
spectrum. Finally, a heavy puck magnetic plate presser impeccably disk on its rotary
support. Small tip, this presser puck is encircled by rubber O-ring that plays a specific role.
The conversion stage Dac uses a Cirrus Logic 24-bit / 192kHz. However, the CD player
works in native standard 16-bit / 44 kHz, not 24-bit / 192 kHz, the latter being reserved for
one USB 2.0 input.
Power is obviously at the forefront: the designer did not hesitate to implement two
separate transformers. One dedicated to the analog output stage is a model "home"
double C grain oriented with capacity 400 VA "pumped" under vacuum for 48 hours at
100 °. This quality of supply includes a series of YBA capacitors totaling 20,000 microfarads
for seriously stabilize the current. A second toroidal transformer is intended for the
management of mechanical functions, the display and the converting section.
The completion of all is impeccably performed: on this point, there is no criticism.

1. Analysis and overall approach
Stamps
From the outset, from the first seconds of listening, we find this beauty and timbre
accuracy that made the reputation of YBA players of previous generations. It is with
great pleasure to find such silky spun violins. The string ensemble of 'Mozart's Requiem
under the direction of Herbert von Karajan' is simply majestic and proves very air with a
stamp all natural color points.
In another register, the violin Laurent Korcia is both gentle and extremely precise, giving it
a special credibility and musical temperament closer to analog. For these two examples,
we feel that high bandwidth subjective controlled manner file because no trace of
aggression or hardness are to be expected.
This high register revolves around a middle register that will delve into every corner all the
information that is present on the rainbow cake. This sense of analysis plays a big role in
the communication and transmission of emotions (see below). The smallest inflections,
the minute or discrete percussions are easily noticeable and very well highlighted,
including orchestral masses "loaded". It is a real pleasure to listen '' Tri Yann and the Loire
Country National Orchestra 'which will locate each note of the mandolin, that of a
triangle or simply that of cromorne who gets the melodic line. All this "feels good"
authenticity.
The bass: a program! Everything starts with the opening of '' Thus Spoke Zarathustra 'where management Lorin Maaezel lowest octaves of the great organs have given a lot
of trouble to some CD players, amplifiers or speakers. The CD 430 and the (s) system (s)
that have been associated with it behaved in a "divine", without compression or
alteration of any kind. This shows that the 430 CD explores the bases with a mastery that I
had immediately suspected.
On another note, do not be afraid to emphasize bass punctuating '' Valeria '' performed
by the Modern Jazz Quartet. The game wants accurate, clear, and notes down to the
desired depth with a "punctuation, a velocity, and a truly amazing consistency. The
piano gives, in turn, the best of himself. It is not omnipresent: it keeps the place which is
his game with a hairline and notes that weight and a major subject. Both instruments are
surprisingly this matter and simply realistic substance. The lower register is structured: there
is nothing "mushy" and it reveals a truly well reproduced readability.
Transparency
Those who "practice" YBA and / or possess products ranges from the Classic or Signature
(and even some references Passion) know or still remember that famous crystal clear
who had made the builder's reputation. It was logical that I have a particular interest in
this feature.
Please believe that I was not disappointed because I have found happiness with this
facility to unveil all the tiny substances some good records. The CD 430 is an "analyst" of
the first order since it will look a lot of detail. However, it is important to emphasize that
this is not only on the top of the spectrum that is preferred. Transparency is assessed over
the entire audible spectrum. The orchestral suite '' Porgy And Bess' of Gershwin directed
by Frank Chacksfield illustrating such "opportunities" this player that does not hesitate to
give us all of the substance contained in this record. We savor without restraint or soaring
arpeggios on the harp that gently come to you "tickle" ears. Some interventions flute well
fed are superimposed above the orchestral mass with an "Aryan physiognomy" the best
effect: we feel that all that breathes and gives a de facto soul and meaning to the
music.
In this chapter, the "paw" of YBA is perfectly identifiable: it is good enough approach that
crystalline transparency which made the reputation of the preceding embodiments, as
assessed on five continents.
Dynamic and responsive
"Thus spoke Zarathustra": the flood of percussion on a brass base illustrates the absolute
control of dynamics. This interpretation is here a real "monument" in the holding notes
and responsiveness: the brass, the strings "fly" with real flexibility. All that "feeds" the
partition fills the listening room for you "put in condition" facing the orchestra that occurs
with panache and rigor. This beauty is a tribute to this interpretation, and just to its
composer.
In another style, what happiness to find this interpretation of '' Take Five '' by Quincy Jones
by what this CD shows how it "fits" perfectly in rhythm. The ability to react quickly and well
used to see in a light natural sounding brass. The cymbals are clear and precise. Hats off
to bite Trompete, which, once is not custom, under no circumstances let slip an ounce of
aggression that might come taint listening. The saxophone and velvety sound emerges
from this set brilliantly and with a notable presence in the listening room; presence
devoid of any trace of caricature.
The pace of assembly is particularly supported and illustrated by bass line and staccato
percussion and expertly organized.
Dynamic stretches evenly across all frequencies reproduced with a linearity that can
certainly not be faulted. Even on extracts as a "Varied Air" according Colombi (school
Madène 17th century), one perceives a harpsichord with grandiose gaits accompanied
by a violin playing that dictates his musical course of action and a Baroque cello
intervenes contrechant to give the size that fits. To conclude: realistic applause round off
this sparkling miking live - divine you say?
Fluidity - direction of opening
If the meaning of the term fluidity were to escape, then I urge you to get acquainted
with this CD player. With the Passion 430 CD music flows freely with as "focal point" a series
of perfectly balanced "oiled" - it is also a constant in YBA forever. A kind of magic
happens each musical passage, and that, whatever the music style. Any hitch has been
identified, it further enhances the listening comfort and musical enjoyment at all
times. One detects a certain agility to manage the most complex musical excerpts,
orchestral masses tame the most "loaded".
Various excerpts from '' Tri Yann and Loire National Orchestra of Pays' confirm me on this
point, and leads me to specifically mention a beautiful sense of openness.
This sense of openness, we find it on a number of extracts, but the 'Kyrie Ariel Ramirez'
that best reflects the talent in terms of expressiveness of the great singers and purity
interpretation. A kind of magic happens between the performers and the listener that
reflects so well the flavor of Latin American religious music.
Soundstage
While camped in the middle of the speakers, the sound scene unfolds in three
dimensions with a facility that gives a beautiful plume to "big orchestrations." The scene
holographic wants - however, it remains contained on little "training" or when the
situation arises. No overflow is to be feared, the CD 430 is therefore good judgment,
knowing maintain a permanent presence of interpreters in the listening room.
Whatever the associated electronics, brings the CD 430 without waiting for an answer. In
general, we feel that this player prefers the generosity without overdo it. The soundstage
is built progressively and methodically to take "forms" clothing reproduced with surprising
resilience. Choirs of the power of 'Tri Yann and Pays de Loire National Orchestra' 'or one
that shows the' Mozart Requiem '' do not lack presence, making listening particularly
attractive, varied and alive . The plans are well structured and it is easy to distinguish
between the leading groups of instruments and those of second or third plan.
It does not get bored with the CD 430, which in each extract, brings its share of surprises
and to rediscover some details ignored by other CD players. The lecture '' Stabat Mater
by Vivaldi - Direction Christopher Hogwood 'you demonstrate that this CD player is
generous: the solo voice of James Bowman takes a likely size in three dimensions: it shows
us how the interpreter "lives" his music with a remarkable form of exaltation.
Communication with the listener
Given the above, it was surprising to find points of malfunction or other form of
inconsistency.
The CD 430 has things to say, but it will not do in any conditions. If electronic, speakers
and cables are carefully selected and that recordings are made, then your most
expressive musical excerpts will turn into health course without limits. If these precautions
are followed, I guarantee divine music sessions, see poignant. The CD 430 will make you
"live" music to the extent that this CD player agrees to blackmail the partitions that have
the merit of being interpreted with virtuosity.
I was really excited about the 'Mozart Requiem' 'under the direction of Herbert von
Karajan. This drive intends to share with his audience the expression of the soloist Maria
Stader through the dramatic intensity of certain intonations. The emotion is to go when
the choirs clearly express their formulation "touching" and particularly
communicative. We find this sense of accuracy and communication on all the extracts ''
Tri Yann and the Orchestre National des Pays de Loire '' where all the performers play with
wonderful conviction.
Moreover, among the most beautiful demonstrations of what can provide this player, I
can mention the beautiful '' Minor Waltz 'from the album' Double Game 'Laurent Korcia. I
must confide that I was dumb with admiration for the violin playing of the young virtuoso
whose bow "surfing" on the strings of his instrument with a light and a form of infatuation
entirely unique to a thrill fun. Laurent Korcia works to his instrument, he has mastered to
perfection, easily identifiable by any music lover sensitive to quality interpretation.
The sound "woody" of the instrument and that of bass that accompanies the listener up in
conditions of exceptional plays in terms of expression.
The CD 430 is pleasure in treating the buzzer with infinite delicacy, giving the music a soul,
a sense of the quality of interpretation. Its ability to extend the notes in time and space is
a crucial point in the management of harmonics. For confide, I literally "melted" when I
listened to extract "Ayasofia" from the CD "Dance Intro Internity by Omar Faruk Tekbilek"
the interpreter vibrates and "weep" his flute, with a tone tinged with unparalleled purity,
coupled with a breath of recovery plexus take you to the thrill: all is said!
2 Comparison with the YBA Classic Player 3
Prima facie, there are audible differences between the two CD players, and I will try to
identify and introduce them. The first identifiable difference is undoubtedly the spatial
and the "volume" sound that advocates the CD 430. This can be explained by a higher
power capacity. The music is more "generous", she climbed the ladder in terms of
spontaneity and also in terms of expression. In this perspective, I would even say that
communication between the interpreters and the listener is more "fusion".
The CD Player Classic was something very air, a form of freedom of singular
expression. The CD 430 takes this philosophy to their account by adding an extra weight
in the low end, loosed a better and stronger flow - in any case, the 430 CD seems less
"rough" on the recordings too insistent on the top of the audible spectrum.
The scanning capabilities are similar to those of the readers of the old Classic
ranges. However, I do not say that they are superior. The CD 430 embodies a form of
continuity and the culmination of a development that perpetuates the philosophy of the
designer.
The color of the stamp in the middle and the top end is a little different, however one
finds happiness with the silky spun in the high end, bearing in mind that the CD 430 boasts
a rather comparable sweetness that of a vinyl record that everyone considers to be
relevant or ... .no.
Overall, the CD 430 goes further than the Classic Player 3 models on many parameters,
without breaking with the original philosophy of YBA.
CONCLUSION:
Those who believed YBA had turned a page were wrong. Certainly, a new page was
written in terms of achievements, but the fundamentals remain intact. The proven
concept and is still further improved recipe. With the CD Passion 430, Yves Bernard
ANDRE has designed a machine, in my opinion terrible, ready to ensure the succession of
earlier versions and many challenges for his musical performances are high. I think the
CD Passion 430 as a "great" player landmark - a "just music" machine!
