Soul Pollution
I wish stupid kids who go around shooting people would stop telling
everyone what kind of music they listen to! Because of them, my parents
are freaking out! Telling me that the music I listen to is going to affect my
brain- cause me to do something or be somebody I donʼt want to be. Iʼm
not a moron! I can listen to a song and not want to do what it says! These
physco kids are giving punk music a bad name. How come not one of
these school killers can be a Barry Manilow fan? Or what about a
Carpenters fan? Isnʼt that enough to make someone go ballistic?
Iʼll tell you why those kinds of kids arenʼt out bringing an Uzi to schooltheyʼre too busy writing suicide notes! Because Iʼd kill myself if I had to
listen to that sappy stuff! How can they possible tie music to someoneʼs
behavior? Itʼs not sending out secret messages people! Itʼs just music!
Words in a melody. Make believe! Get it? Not even if you play it backward!
“Garbage in. Garbage out,” my parents say. Can i help if they donʼt
understand the music of today? Besides, their music wasnʼt any better. It
might not have had such a kicking beat, but there has been violence, sex,
and drugs in music since the sixties! What ever happened to freedom of
speech? They canʼt make me listen to that drivel they listen to! I donʼt care
if they call it “soul pollution”! I have a right to pollute my soul if I want to!
Maybe.... just to prove a point...... Iʼll load the Bee Gees to my ipod and
then Iʼll knock off a bank or something! Then- maybe for once- they wonʼt
be able to blame what I did on a bad rap song!
