Honors Geometry
Ch. 2 Test Topics
 Perpendicularity
 Write
equations involving complements
and supplements of angles (including
both in same equation) (VIDEOS ONLINE!)
 Write proofs involving comp/supp angles.
 Write proofs involving
complements/supplements of the same
angle.
 Write proofs involving complements
/supplements of congruent angles.
(VIDEOS)
Ch. 2 Test Topics (con’t)
 Use
addition/subtraction/mult/division
properties in proofs. (VIDEOS)
 Use transitive/substitution properties in
proofs (VIDEOS)
 One-Step Proofs (if/then statements or
property name)(VIDEOS)
 Two-column Proofs (VIDEOS)
Addition Property
 CONGRUENT
PAIRS of segs/angles
 Given angles and segments that are
smaller than the final angles/segs.
 Need TWO pairs of congruent parts (or a
shared part)
 Angles/segs generally not divided into
equal-sized pieces
Subtraction Property
 CONGRUENT
PAIRS of segs/angles
 Given angles and segments that are
larger than the final angles/segs.
 Need TWO pairs of congruent parts (or a
shared part)
 Angles/segs generally not divided into
equal-sized pieces
Multiplication Property
 Must
have CONGRUENT PAIRS of
segs/angles.
 Given segs/angles smaller than final
segs/angles.
 Segs/angles broken into congruent parts
(usually double use of
bisect/trisect/midpoint)
Division Property
 Must
have CONGRUENT PAIRS of
segs/angles.
 Given segs/angles larger than final
segs/angles.
 Segs/angles broken into congruent parts
(usually double use of
bisect/trisect/midpoint)
Proof Tips
 Label
given information on diagrams
 Know ch. 1 and ch. 2 IF/THEN statements
 When using comp/supp of congruent
angles, make sure to show two pairs of
comp. or supp angles!
 Look for PAIRS of statements – comp/supp
angles, mdpts, bisectors, trisectors
 When using properties, make sure to show
original segs/angles CONGRUENT!!!
 If stuck, at least list all facts resulting from
givens (and label on diagram).
