 Textbooks: The Earth and Its Peoples: A Global History and Discovering the
Global Past Volume I and II (provided by the school’s bookstore).
 Three ring binder for class notes and assignments
 Pens, pencils, colored pencils, sharpener, eraser, ruler, highlighters, etc.
 Lined paper
 3 X 5 index cards
 USB Flash drive
Recommended Materials:
 AP Study Guides (Barron’s, Princeton Review, 5 Steps to a 5, etc.)
 AP Study Flash cards by Barron’s
Grading System:
Grading will be given based on completion and performance on all assignments,
quizzes, and tests.

Testing:
Unit tests will be timed tests. The unit tests will resemble the AP
World History exam. Section 1 will be multiple choice questions. Section 2 will be
either a Data Based Question (DBQ), Continuity and Change Over Time (CCOT) or
a Comparative Essay.
AP Exam:
 The Advanced Placement Exam is a requirement for the class (10% of
overall grade)
 Exam will be administered in, May of 2015.
 Exam will need to be purchased in the school bookstore in advance. The
cost of the exam will vary depending on individual student situation.
 A score of a 4 or a 5 receives college credit at most universities. A few
universities will accept a score of a 3.
 AP exams are written and scored by the College Board
 AP exam results will be sent directly to the student by College Board

Title I Program:
Academic tutoring and test preparation is available to
all students. Additional support for passing classes and
graduating on time is the intent of these services.
Support through Title I funding is available in the areas
of: math, reading and English. If interested, please
contact the Principal, Dr .Quintin Boyce, or Assistant
Principal for Instruction, Matt Georgia, for additional
information at 602-764-7000.
Make-up Policy:
Late assignments will be accepted up to five days after
the original due date for half (1/2) credit. Assignments
more than five days late will not be accepted.

If absent, the student has five school days to turn in
assignments. If assignments are turned in after the
five day period, the assignment will be accepted for half
(1/2 ) credit.

Concept Recovery:
Students may be able to redo completed assignments
and receive up to ½ of the remaining credit. Concept
recovery assignments are due one week from the date
the student received the graded assignment.

Academic Integrity:
Cheating and plagiarism are absolutely unacceptable. If
it is proven that you are cheating, you will get a zero
automatically
Attendance:
“Absent” is defined as nonattendance in an assigned
class or activity for more than one-half of the period.

“Tardy” is defined as not being in the assigned class or
activity when the tardy bell has finished ringing.

Attendance:
Regular attendance is required to pass. Good
attendance is perhaps the most important element for
academic success.
Students who accumulate 12 excused or unexcused
absences in a SEMESTER may receive an F.
Tardy Policy:
Tardies WILL NOT be accepted or tolerated in this
class. Students who arrive late to class will be subject
to the school’s procedures and the following classroom
procedures:
