The Lymphatic System – Secondary
circulatory system of vessels and nodes
that carry “lymph”. It balances the fluids
that help fight pathogens and diseases.
Lymph Nodes – small lumps located
throughout the body that kill germs that
invade the body’s tissues.
Lymphocytes – white blood cells that
carry T-cells and B-cells. They react to
antigens (attach the germ to the body
cells to harm them). When the antigens
release toxins, poisons or bacteria into
the body activating the T-cells and Bcells.
T-cells – attack germs and tell B-cells
to work
B-cells – fight germs by releasing
antibodies (proteins that attach to germs
and stop them from reproducing)
