prestigious Three-Year Approval with Commendation
from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the
American College of Surgeons (ACoS).

Surgical Specialist
at Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa P.C.
Chairperson of Mercy Medical Center’s Cancer
Committee, says, “I am pleased that the
American College of Surgeons has recognized
Mercy Regional Cancer Center’s excellence and
awarded approval with commendation. This
national recognition substantiates our belief that
patients and their families can receive quality

that a patient’s recovery can be much improved
when the care is provided close to family and
friends.”
Through an exclusive partnership with the
American Cancer Society, the CoC provides the
public with information on the resources,
services and cancer treatment experience for
each CoC-approved cancer program.
If you need information on cancer or have
questions, call the Mercy Cancer Hopeline at
365-HOPE (4673) or 1-800-642-6329 and talk to

CEDAR RAPIDS
Mercy is pleased to announce that
Endocrinologist Arun K. Movva, MD,
is Cedar Rapids’ only endocrinologist.
EARNS
The Regional Cancer Center achieved this
approval through a commitment to provide the
highest level of cancer care and by passing a
rigorous evaluation process.
“This commendation is a reflection of the
commitment and investment we have made in
the fight against cancer,” says Tim Charles,
President and CEO, Mercy Medical Center. “For
over 50 years, Mercy has been the area’s pioneer
in detecting, diagnosing and treating cancers of
all types. Mercy was one of the first treatment
centers west of the Mississippi to offer cobaltbeam radiation treatment technology and the
first in Iowa to have a TomoTherapy imageguided radiation system. Mercy has and
continues to be committed to providing the
clinical forum for multidisciplinary care by
cancer experts that ensure the very best care for
our patients. So we are very proud to receive this

Patients who are overweight and obese may
visit an endocrinologist to have their hormone
levels assessed, as hormones regulate appetite,
metabolism and energy stability. Medical
conditions associated with obesity include
insulin resistance, reproductive issues, metabolic
syndrome and genetic problems.
Dr. Movva assesses, helps prevent and treats
obesity and the resulting health complications.
