1.4 Angles and their measures
Homework pg 29 17-43
Angle- consists of two rays that have the same initial point. Side of an angle- the rays are called sides
Vertex of an angle- the initial point
Congruent angles- angles with the same measure
Measure of an angle- the degree measure between the rays use a protractor to
measure. Named
The vertex must always be in the middle when you name an angle. Side-
Vertex- B
Classify- acute, obtuse, right or straight Interior of an angle- all the points on or inside an angle
Exterior of an angle- all the points not on the angle or in the interior Acute angle- measure between 0-89 degrees
Right angle- 90 degrees
Obtuse- measures 91-180
Straight- measures 180 ( line, opposite ray, straight angle)
Adjacent angles- have a common vertex and one side, no common interior points Protractor postulate- the measure of the angle is the distance between the rays. Angle addition postulate- add the measure of two adjacent angles to get the sum
of the whole angle. Ex if p is in the interior of angle rst then the measure of angle rsp + angle
pst=angle rst
