New MRI Machine At Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee
CSM Hospital Ozaukee has purchased a new GE Optima MR450W with GEM Suite MRI machine. The new
machine will be available starting Monday, December 28.
The Optima MR450W combines the latest imaging technology with improved comfort and convenience for
patients. New features include:






A wide, short bore allows patients to keep their head or feet out for most exams, all but eliminating
the feeling of claustrophobia. The larger, 50 cm field of view (FOV) can also more easily accommodate
larger patients.
Artifact reduction software reduces the MRI's sensitivity to metal within the body, which results in
higher quality images with greater detail. This leads to a more definitive diagnosis and fewer false
positives and follow-up exams.
Faster image acquisition minimizes the length of time patients need to remain motionless and hold
their breath.
Shorter exam times for patient's convenience.
New clinical capabilities, including cardiac, breast and prostate imaging.
High sensitivity images allow for more non-contrast exams, which reduces the need for intravenous
contrast material that can be hard on the patients' kidneys.
"Columbia St. Mary's is proud to provide comprehensive imaging services to our referring physicians and their
patients," said John Steinbrenner, Director of Imaging Services, Columbia St. Mary's. "The addition of the new
GE MRI reaffirms our commitment to advanced MRI imaging capabilities."
