Character
DEBUT (da'byoo) n. [FR. debuter, to play first, lead off] 1. A first
appearance before the public, as of an actor. 2. The beginning
of a career.
-Webster's Dictionary
Founded in 1991, Debut Theatre Company is committed to setting the
standard for children’s theatre. Based on a professional theatre troupe,
Debut is the only hands-on, year-round, non-profit, troupe-structured,
progressional children’s theatre school in Colorado. The members are the
actors, as well as participants in the design and construction of everything
from posters to costumes to sets. Debut’s members are Debut!
Debut offers troupes, classes and workshops for a wide range of ages,
talents and interest levels; each celebrates with a final performance in front
of an audience. Members experience a variety of performance venues,
including the Lincoln Center Magnolia Theatre and Debut’s own Black Box
Theatre.
Debut was formed both as an outlet for creative young people, as well as to
provide theatre that could be enjoyed by the entire family. Theatre is more
than just acting; the show becomes a team effort that the members can
take pride in.
Theatre, at its finest, is an enriching, educational and fulfilling experience for
performer and audience alike. As young people experience the show from
both sides of the footlights, we hope they will gain a further appreciation of
theatre and how important their part in it is.
That’s what Debut is all about…
Inspiring young people, on stage, back stage and in the audience!

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION
When you do the math, our tuition averages just over $6.00 per hour, which is significantly less than that of
other local children’s programs. Our tuition is also all-inclusive, covering everything from performance space
rental to registration fees to costuming to make-up. There are no hidden charges throughout the semester
and admission for performances (excepting Debut Players) are by donation. Debut Theatre needs your help
to keep our program affordable.

Motivation
Arabian Nights: Spring 2012
As A Company We Believe...
…quality arises through pride of ownership and par.cipa.on.
…theatre must be affordable and accessible to all.
…in our hallmark troupe structure.
…all aspects of theatre are best learned hands-on.
…in exposing families to classic stories with a .meless message.
…theatre builds character off the stage as well as on.
…young people are inspired by peer role models.
…in the benefits of teamwork within a cast and a company.
…in inspiring crea.ve thought through inven.veness and imagina.on.
…in crea.ng a family atmosphere with students learning from and feeling
responsible toward one another.
…every child benefits from theatre training in countless ways.
…it’s called ‘pu7ng on a PLAY’ for a reason.
…we serve a vital role by inspiring the next genera.on of ar.sts and theatre-goers.
…a theatre company is a business and must stay within a budget.
…in u.lizing volunteers and encouraging volunteerism.
…that just as an actor learns to focus on and listen to their inner voice… so must a
company.
