Plants Study Guide Facts: Plants need water, air (carbon dioxide), and soil to grow. The plant parts are: roots, stem, leaves, and fruit. Plants give us food and oxygen. Plants prevent erosion. Pollination happens when an animal or the wind moves pollen from the stamen to the pistil. After pollination, the seed forms in the ovary, the petals fall off the flower, and fruit grows around the seeds. Germination is the term for when a seed starts to grow. Be able to draw and label the plant life cycle.
