Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University
 Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is Georgia’s first and only National
Cancer Institute (NCI) designated comprehensive cancer center.
 Winship at Emory University Hospital is ranked first in Georgia for cancer care
and is one of the top cancer programs in the nation according to U.S. News &
World Report.
 More than 15,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients are seen annually by Winship
physicians.
 Winship’s 442 faculty members represent 39 departments within Emory
University and collaborating institutions including the CDC, American Cancer
Society, Georgia Tech, and Morehouse School of Medicine.
 With over 250 active clinical trials, Winship is dedicated to taking new cancer
treatments from the laboratory to patients, providing cancer patients and their
families with innovative options in cancer care.
 Since 2011, Winship investigators have led or contributed to the pivotal clinical
trials testing of nearly 75% of all anti-cancer drugs approved by the FDA since
that time.
 In 2016, Winship received $83.9 million in research funding, including
$38.6 million from the NCI. The same year, Winship published over 1,600 peerreviewed articles.
 Winship is one of 30 inaugural U.S. cancer centers selected as a Lead Academic
Participating Site for the NCI’s National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN). The NCTN
serves as the NCI’s primary infrastructure to conduct phase II and III clinical trials.
 Winship physicians provide care at Emory University Hospital, Emory University
Hospital Midtown, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital,
Grady Memorial Hospital, the Atlanta VA Medical Center, and Aflac Cancer and
Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
 The Winship Cancer Network was launched to improve access to clinical trials,
training, education, and multi-disciplinary and subspecialty cancer care at
community cancer facilities in Georgia and adjacent states.
